Chelsea fans will say Courtois and United fans will say De Gea, this won't lead anywhere. All three are top class keepers.

What ever happened to Robert Green !
Haven't seen enough of Neuer this season but I'd say he's probably still the best keeper.
De Gea is clearly in great form though.
at the moment in our league its prob de gea
havent seen neuer much to be fair
Neuer is the most complete but considering he is 4 and 6 years older than de Gea and Courtois it's no surprise.
Put it this way, how did Neuer compare to the other 2 when he was their age while at Schalke? He was still a great keeper but still developing into the one we see today.
De Gea and Courtios could both potentially develop even more and become even better.
Crazy thing is that they are all still in their 20s which for a keeper is very young. All 3 could easily be at the top for the next decade and more.
Imagine how good Joe Hart could be, if it wasn't for that Dandruff!!!

I don't think many Chelsea fans would claim that Courtois is the best keeper in the world.
In fact I think that there are quite a few Chelsea fans who think that Courtois isn't even the best keeper at the club. Not yet anyway.
Neuer should bring back the sweeper role, the guy clearly doesn't like staying in his box much.
Cech on his day was an incredible keeper but he has seemed to have declined ever so slightly in the last year or 2. Was sensational around a decade ago, dipped massively after the head injury but then seemed to pick up his form a lot but then slowly dipped in the last year or 2.
For me Courtois is a better keeper at this moment in time.
Don't think the opposition strikers have seen much of Neuer either
Cech only dipped in the AVB era, and that's because the guy played an incredible high line which Cech couldn't adapt to really. He picked up once again when he left.
Don't know if I am the only one, but Neuer still strikes me as a mistake waiting to happen.
Granted he hasn't made many high-profile mistakes, I wonder how he'd cope out of Germany.
Do you think I didnt think that fans would pick their GK over the others?!?!?!?!
I would go Courtois for now. But not for long. De Gea has immense potential and I believe he could take over Schmeichel as the greatest keeper to play in this country.
Good point, DMLF.
MU82, I know Courtois is a talent but i find your statement interesting that he is better than Cech. The only thing Courtois has on Cech IMO is age and maybe distribution.
And i disagree he 'dipped massively' post cerebral injury.

I'd say Courtois and De Gea are very similar in terms of the levels they have currently reached, though they offer slightly different attributes.
Haven't seen too much of Neuer this season, but seriously in the past few seasons, I did not think Neuer was anything special. I think he has been overhyped, due to his WC performances.
It's a shame Cech doesn't play much anymore, as he is still top class, and would be in the top keeper list if he had been playing.
Between De Gea and Courtois, it's difficult. I think Courtois fairs better with crosses and long balls, he has great command of his area in the air, and has brilliant anticipation of when to come of the line to close opposition players down. His shot stopping skills have not been tested that much, so can't really judge him there yet, although at AM it was and he was great in that department too.
De Gea is the best shot stopper in the league.
Di Maria's Left Foot
No, straight after his head injury in 2006 (4 years before AVB was even manager at Chelsea) he dipped massively and lost a lot of confidence and was no where near the Cech of years before.

He plays a high-risk game so there is that perennial danger. But as you say, his errors are few and far between.
I actually think he is not agile as the other two but his decision-making and instincts is spot-on!
Well at 28 Neuer is about to enter what you’d think would be his peak years so it isn’t really a far comparison.
De Gea is also nearly two years older than Courtois which at this stage of their career is significant. I think De Gea is the most in from keeper in the league right now but he is in the form of his life, Courtois I think is the better keeper though, he’s a really special talent.

What I like about Courtois is he is so solid, you can pretty much rely on the guy 100%, he breeds confidence. Cech from what I've seen of Chelsea has let a little bit of complacency creep in (maybe through age, who knows) and is far more likely to spill shots or not gather a cross which he would have never done before.
He's still a great keeper and 99% of clubs would take him in a heart beat but I just see more mistakes in him that before which I don't see in Courtois.
From what I can remember the head injury Cech got in '06 had a massive mental effect on him and how he played, there was far more hesitation and that had a huge effect on his game. He nearly died, it's completely understandable why he wouldn't go into challenges the way he would before the injury.

Correct, he is also more imposing, I can only compare him to Schmeichel in that respect, who could be described as a hybrid of the three.
