He is a convicted rapist. Why should the media help his cause? That's not their job.

Is Lesley Grantham introduced as a convicted murderer? Is David Dickinson introduced as a convicted fraudster?

I would suggest that a bit of balance and equal treatment isn't too much to ask.

I don't think most on here are sticking up for him, I think the main point being made is that there are grounds for reasonable doubt therefore his conviction could be unsafe.

If he did rape that girl he's a sc-umbag but the evidence against him is far from conclusive.

I don't understand your point. Does this have any bearing on whether she consented or not because unless it can be proven beyond reasonable doubt that she didn't, he shouldn't be found guilty. If she can't remember whether she did or not I suggest there are grounds for reasonable doubt.
