No one has proposed that this fair/unfair. All I have proposed is that people should honour their agreements. I am not sure why people are upset with this.

Melton and I have the same view, there are 2 separate arguments here and they really should be treated that way.

I wonder if we were playing Liverpool whether the views would be the same. Then where do we go from there, we start selecting the league games we want to go to?

Like I said, you can pick and choose the games you want to go to over the course of a season. City/Liv/Ars may be tough but you can get the other 16 games if you want to.

I personally enjoy going to Utd games, I do not care who the club is playing, I go to support Utd.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one is saying you dont support Utd. But their are reasons why someone may not be able to make a match. And being punished for it is ridiculous. Nor shoudl you have to explain your self to the club to avoid punishment in this instance.

As for sticking to commitments, thats all well and good if you have a say in the contract but I suspect that this is not the case, its either accept it or dont get a season ticket.

I see nothing wrong with offering Season ticket holders first preference, given the popularity of Utd, they should be able to fill the vacant seats with fnas who normally dont get tickets.

Again we are delving into separate discussions.

One discussion is abide by the terms of the agreement you have signed up to

The other is, is the agreement right.

I personally would not buy a season ticket with those conditions attached to it.

Let's see if the fans will challenge this poor practise or just tow the line.

I'm betting on the latter.

It does show how United view the fans though, nothing but money.

Man utd fans suffer in silence and allow the club to treat them like cattle

posted on 29/1/15

That is ridiculous. Why should people be forced to go and watch a poor game (even though there might be goals). Business is bad at United then.

They won't as they are scared, they know the club would replace them with some tourist.

Is this what they mean by the club having a soul? Or should that be a trade mark.

posted on 29/1/15

Loz, are you going to educate us about clubs having souls now?

This is gonna be good.

Loz

The big flaw about your comment is if it was only about the money the Glazers wouldn't keep freezing the season ticket prices.

I know the terms and conditions every time I renew. This isn't news, it's rubbish.

This

The act has been in place for nearly a decade

Yup, it's ridiculous but it isn't new news at all

Second part I don't agree with though. Spoken like a true armchair fan as well I must say. Not many match going fans I know are looking forward to seeing Cambridge Utd at OT for £40+.

----

Hate this arrogant attitude. If our players feel the same then Cambridge will do us over.

Freezing the season ticket price in not doing the fans a favour or something they should be doing that, the fans are programmed silly this way as they probably never leave their towns or silly lives

They don't have to as the extra money from sponsorship will go in their back pockets are instead.

Aren't more shares being sold soon?

Mud it's more united fans saying city is soulless in the past that makes me think what is uniteds soul?

Or in this case sold.

Did you not watch the first game?

Why would i want to pay £40 to watch a league 2 side who are going to come and park the jumbo jet on their 18yr box line.

Another angle to look at it from.

Let us say cup match tickets went on sale to the general public. How miffed would a season ticket holder be if he couldn't get one.

I thought you were a United fan who was paying to see the club you support.

posted on 29/1/15

A far more fair solution would be for season ticket holders to get first dibs for cup games. They'd have certain date to apply for them and if they were unsold then they'd go on general sale. There is certain nothing fair about forcing fans to buy tickets for some games people just don't wanna pay £40 for. The club seems to forget we're coming out of a recession.

Why don't they make the scheme more flexible so you can opt out and give those tickets to open sale.

Wouldn't that be fairer and less draconian.

I am VC and that's exactly what I'll be doing.

But don't think for a second I'm looking forward to it. Many people won't be. And a some will pay for ticket and just not go believe it or not.

Always find it amazing that people who don't go have such strong opinions on tickets and match going stuff. If you don't go, then it's not really a concern for you.
