That's a hugely simplistic way of looking at it, but yes, I'd want independence from a nation that, by its actions, damaged the country in which I lived, simply because taking us out of the EU would absolutely damage Scotland. Our trade deals with the EU are critical and quite frankly given the way that the working poor particularly are already treated by "our" government I'd be very nervous to have the safeguards of EU legislation removed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet you would be more confident that a Scottish Gov would have your interests at heart any more than a British Gov would. Don't allow yourself to be fooled that life would be any different. There was life before the EU with ups and downs and there would be life after with ups and downs (Scottish or British).
I am not pro or anti EU because I am forced to be put on the fence by a political merry go round not willing to come out of their comfort zone and be honest. What is not in doubt is that the current way the EU is run is a shambles. A no vote is not necessarily anti Europe.

Do you honestly think that Scotland is anything other than an after thought in Westminster?
Do you honestly think that in this post-independence world that we live in, that Labour and particularly the Tories won't be putting the boot into "the Jocks" to satiate a desire by middle England to put us "back in our place"?
Because ultimately votes in middle England are where elections are won and lost.
Look at the state of the "more powers" bóllocks that we've had to put up with, which every independent analyst has shown is ultimately going to negatively impact Scotland's opportunities to grow its economy.
I am very much one of those big bad separatists that middle England hates.
All political parties have racists among them. Years ago I used to drink in my local Labour working men's club where I heard and saw some of the most obnoxious and vitriolic attitudes and disgusting racist comments you could ever imagine.

Well whenever they get around to solving the English Devolution question will be when Scotland can fill their boots and roll out the list of promises to be fulfilled.
You and I both know that is not happening anytime soon, so until then you will just have to remain let down like the rest of us. That's what being in a union is all about.
For every German claiming unemployment benefit in the United Kingdom, there are four British people claiming unemployment benefit in Germany.
Big bad immigrants are to blame for everything it seems? Big bad immigrants gained Britain £20billion in the last decade or so yet are despised because Brits are too lazy to get a job themselves- or is most likely the case- the wages are peanuts and have been for years because of the huge dependence on the financial sector ignoring everything else!
I am not British myself, but I lived there for a long time. It's a European jobs market and people can move where they want to- just because you're born in a country gives you no God given right to a job in that country.

I am as British as they come, but I hate all this nationalistic claptrap. It just fuels hate. If a foreign worker is prepared to come to the UK, work and pay their taxes, I really do not see a problem.

"guess you were not around then in 1979 when rubbish built up on the streets and unions ran the show"
You're right. I wasn't around. I'm a 90s kid.
Let's just flimsily dismiss the way she dealt with the Hillsborough disaster, the Right to Buy scheme, the privatisation of the national rail service and the NHS, poll tax, the sinking of the Belgrano, unemployment was worse and the gulf between richer and poorer increased.
She was a vile human being and there is a special place reserved in hell for her.

I WAS around in 1979, and throughout the Thatcher era. She was pure evil.
Great article, vote Labour everyone!

Anyone who is actually willing to get off their own backside, move to a new country, learn a new language and reduce the amount of time they can see with family and friends just to earn a living deserves to be welcomed with open arms. That is a person who actually shows ambition- instead of Britain welcoming this sort of person they receive utter prejudice because politicians are so deep in the pocket of bankers and the financial sector that Britain's real problems which are exacerbated by immigration- not caused by it- are made all too clear. All immigrants do is demonstrate chronic under-investment in social housing, poor transport, and neglect of the health system.
Quite ironic that on the anniversary of Churchill's death it is Germany who has welcomed these immigrants and is reaping the benefits from it.

£20billion to the UK exchequer. Far more than the welfare they receive. Better educated than the British workforce.

British people claim benefits in other European Union countries too.

I'm European- and I'll never feel a minority as a European within Europe. Well, I'll go even further and say I'm human and I'll never be a minority- but we do not have Universal freedom of movement.
The freedom of movement across Europe is one of the greatest leaps forward humanity has taken in years.
Sizzle.. Vote Labour.....
