2 points per game now down to 1.93. Hoorah

It is still on Wulfrun

I can see sixth having at least 76 points which would leave us needing 25 more points from 14 games.

I think Brentford, Ipswich and to a lesser extent Watford are the getable clubs ahead of us at this stage.

People naively complain about Doyle not contributing to the team, while on wages that were agreed when he signed, but forget that he can only play if selected. He can't run out onto the pitch if the manager hasn't picked him. The fact he hasn't played is down to KJ or Moxey giving him the cold shoulder. It's been out of his hands.

Thought it was a strange game today, most teams in this league would have punished our hesitation at the back. Some great finishing on the end of four counter attacks and a corner were the difference. And some very good keeping as well.

On the Doyle thing, I agree with Jackett he brings something difference to the squad, experience and an ability to hold it up in the opposition box. If he stays he should be on the bench.

Afobe showed some real composure for his goals, haven't seen cool like that in front of goal since SEB in his prime.

See Doyle salary had risen from 25k to 40k pw while he's been away <lol>

May be wrong but I detected a reluctance to give him the ball even when he was in decent positions. Only chance he had was when he was just too slow on to la Parra's cross at the end.

QPR paid half his salary so probably that

Bute, it was largely his goal drought during two successive relegations that put paid to his starting position.

Kenny's decision not to use him has led to us purchasing Afobe and Dicko while gaining promotion and nearing the play-offs. Kenny's decision has been justified

Doyle could have shone in league one but didn't, he could have stuck around but didn't do enough, Kenny said early doors that a players input compared to wages will be one factor, Doyle does not do enough on the pitch for the wage he earns, whether that is harsh or not.

Weird you say that Goldi, have seen a few saying the same regarding giving him the ball.

Afobe is class, we will see a lot of goals from him.

Our non-creative midfield did ok

Henry - strong
McDonald - assist
Edwards - goal
Sako - goal
La Parra - assist

Price, the player so many say we can't play without, didn't play

One game doesn't prove anything though Pundit.

McDonald for example is a good player, hindered by playing so deep, it appears that he has had the shackles loosened a touch and he can make a killer pass anywhere if more advanced.

It's about piecing the clues together from Huddersfield and Rotherham and finding the right formula.

In both games we played 4-4-2
Dicko and Afobe both played and had balls played in behind the defence
We started 3 centre backs out of 4

Compare Doyles wages to those of Price, Iorfa or Hause, you can maybe understand them being reluctant to play with him at 5-0 up.

Just seen Bartons sending of what a tît! Alan "Mr elbows"Shearer and Lillie Savage now berating him. Pricless

You counting Iorfa as a CB?

Hey Goldi, have you seen the Matic sending off yet, a bizarre incident.

posted on 21/2/15

Yes, I see us having four CB's in Batth, Stearman, Iorfa and Hause.

Golbourne and Doherty cannot play together in a back 4, we're too fragile

posted on 21/2/15

Not sure i agree with that really but get your point.

Golbourne is an absolute must, a very important player for us and Sako benefits from having him in the side in general.

Yes Cinci, way I saw it was Mee was passing the ball and Maria was trying to block it. He followed through which you do when your trying to pass a football, but I didn't see it as the horror tackle some are making out.

Matic reaction was daft and was only ever going to result in a

Yeah, i think the tackle just looked worse than it really was, didn't see malice in it myself.

Matic reaction was quite funny really, jumping through the air at someone isn't an everyday sight in football

In the after-match interview, the reporter said "It's been a long time since we've seen Kevin Doyle in a Wolves shirt - what was the thinking behind that?".

KJ's response was "We need more forwards - it's as simple as that".

Just woke up from the strangest dream! Dreamed that we played a side that we would be expected to beat at Molineux and we put them to the sword scoring 5 goals, conceded none and that Doyle played for us again.

However as we are Wolves, none of that can be true!

There's more to it for me. I appreciate that Kenny was being honest but if it was about numbers he wouldn't have let Leon Clarke go to Wigan. He obviously rates Doyle higher.

posted on 22/2/15

everyone who knows anything about football rates doyle higher than Clarke

i think in part KJ was being honest - our bench has been really weak of late and when we've been behind there has been nobody to bring on who might help up front. yesterday we had the luxury of bringing on doyle and RVLP, which looked a lot more positive than recent moves to bring on evans and doherty.

not sure whether the USA move is completely off, or whether yesterday was in part to show doyle is fit and ready to play?

but if he isn't going anywhere until the end of the season then it would be crazy not to use him. he has been one of our most talented players of recent years, and whilst he isn't a goal-scorer, he is experienced and hard working and will help keep the ball up front for the likes of dicko or afobe to feed off
