The question Cout needs to ask himself is, if someone tries to spit on the floor in front of someone, what are they spitting at? Are the
spitting at the floor, or are they spitting the person?
***
They are spitting at that person. This much is clear.
-------------------------------------------

Of course they aren't. Don't be ridiculous. They are spitting at the flood in front of the person. To be spitting at the person they'd have to be trying to hit them with the spit.

"Sure that he said that spitting at someone's feet wasn't a show of contempt in the UK"

Did I? No I didn't, I said I'd personally not heard or seen this, particularly in British culture . I didn't deny it was a show of contempt. Just because I am not aware of it doesn't mean I'm denying it happened.

Either way spitting at someone's feet is still spitting at someone, the clue is in the first two words. Otherwise it'd be called spitting near when defining the meaning.

As an aside. Looking through the Should Evans get a ban thread. The similarities are uncanny. Defend Evans using pedantry and semantics, then start questioning the language skills of the person you are debating with.

I went through your profile to expose you as a hypocrite. This is not difficult to do or achieve. There is a reason why your history is not deleted on this forum.
It helps people understand you better. Like your

That is disputable but all the same it doesn't make you any less of a psychoderanged stalking half wit.

Elvis he is talking rubbish as he has been all topic.

Given his understanding of English someone probably said he didn't spit on Cisse and he took it as oh look somebody said Evans didn't spit at all haha.

His list of quotes contains people saying things like he spat on the floor, which is what actually happened...

posted on 27/3/15

Yes it is.

Spit at - to force saliva from your mouth in the direction of someone.
.................................

Like I said it is at best misleading and at worst intentionally dishonest of you...

Most people would assume a person being spat at would have the spit aimed at them, not the floor they happen to be standing on.

.....................................
Where did I say 1 or 2?

I stand by what I said, plenty of fans.
.....................................

Then you are talking complete rubbish as per usual.

Saying he spat on the floor is completely accurate, your failure to understand that reflects badly on you and not the United fanbase.

This is the problem with the country. Doing research to expose fraud is a good thing.

Is research a bad thing? Are facts a bad thing?

You guys on this very thread are going back to an old thread to find "facts" to back up your assertions.

You do it, it is fine, I do it, I am a deranged stalker.

So, the thing you are criticising me for, you are doing on this very thread

Once again you accuse me of defending Evans. Once again, about the fifth time, I tell you that I am not defending Evans. What he did was out of order. Why are you unable to understand this simple statement of fact?

I just don't think that he was guilty by the laws of the game.

Are you really surprised that I question your language skills/intelligence?

No, you don't have to be trying to hit them with it. To be fair Elvis the dictionary definition has been provided here. Look at previous spitting cases in football which is the only relevant culture and a culture Evans would be familiar with obviously. In fact, there have been many more cases like Evans than cases where a player actually got spit on. The law on spitting defines what Evans did as spitting at, so does the dictionary. Evans spat at Cisse that much is undeniable for me.

Really? That's the dictionary definition of "spat at"

"It's the ones saying he spat at him that are doing my head in. If he have wanted to spit at him, he could have quite easily."

Comment by URM denying he spat at Cisse.

We've done this already. Re-read the article if your having trouble remembering. I'm not digging up quotes again.

Here in the UK? No it's not.

There's nothing wrong with bringing up past comments on threads to prove a point. Not at all. But doing an article just to try and embarrass someone is the height of 'look at me' desperation.

Leads me to think that the author of it is a teenager who is all about point scoring in ways that really only matter to the easily led.

You claim he was spitting at Cisse's feet. The definition of spitting at someone has been posted.

If there was no fraud in the first place in the manner you suggest then you end up looking a fraud yourself, just as we have witnessed.

Is research a bad thing? Are facts a bad thing?

Yeah, if you think about it this is a statement of fact. When you did it, it was deranged stalking. What we are doing here is fine.

When you lost the argument and started trawling my profile I began fearing you have a problem. Last I saw you you told me to adhere or else you'd have another rummage through my profile. Was just wondering when you would.be done with that? What a lady boy.

I said he was spitting at the GROUND. The term 'spat at his feet' means the ground and is a commonly known term. I have explained that. Evans (in my opinion) tried to and achieved spitting at/on the floor. If he was spitting at the floor, how could he be spitting at the player?

Funny because, and you even quoted yourself saying it, you said "spitting at someone's feet is a well known show of contempt/disrespect"

You're changing tack

Either way I'm not interested in arguing the toss about this. The long and short of it is this;

"Spit at - To force saliva out of your mouth in the direction of someone as an insult"

Whether he spat at his feet or the floor, he still spat in Cisse's direction, by definition he spat at Cisse.

posted on 27/3/15

Spitting at the floor or wherever is besides the point. The definition of spit at, in the dictionary and in football is aiming spit in someone's direction. Whether it lands on the physical body is besides the point. Someone could spit at someone who is 20 yards away. No chance of the spit hitting them at that distance but that is spitting at them.

This is a first. I actually agree with the utter nincompoop Mamba.

No matter how much a few of our fans have tried to sugar coat it, which I have found to be a bit (Liverpool fan like) embarrassing, Evans spat in the direction of Cisse.

He deserved exactly what he got.
