I made a conscious decision after s3 to not 'get attached' to any characters and have started to forcibly stop liking characters.

As I've said before, the red wedding has been the only time I've been sat staring with mouth open in shock because I just didn't expect what happened! (I hadn't read the books by then!)

Some spoilers here

Yep, couldn't believe it, only other time I've been like that was Hank in BB. Read the books after S3 and didn't tell any of my friends, so when Oberyn came around they all loved him and thought he was invincible. Won 50 quid betting on the fight

So John Snow is actually a Stark, anyone agree?

He's half Stark half Targaryn

It seems too obvious so I reckon he'll throw a curveball and it won't be. If he ever fackingn gets round to writing the next book

Tywin was an underrated character too. Intimidating as hell and brimming with menace.

I think I'm just going to call you Mike (If that is who you're named after!) as it's much easier.

But I wish I had stupid friends. It was obvious what was about to happen as soon as he started had him on the floor but didn't kill him.

"i thought the acting was
substandard and the directing was lacking in energy"

We get it 4za: you don't like GOT. You don't have to keep unconvincingly shoving it down everyone's throats.

Olenna Redwyne > Tywin
--------

Olenna is a pretty great character. I think she had an Emmy nomination for her guest performance.

Im glad op used the real Abreviation of ASOIAF and not just the dumbed down for tv name "game of thrones"

Danys in the book is the best character but I really dont like her in the tv series. She looks nothing like how she should and doesnt exude the power and authority she should on the screen

I think she's starting to get 'stronger', but she's been really weak as a character for a while. Maybe we'll actually see her take control properly soon.

Jon is not a Strak.

I quite like Roose Bolton, he's ruthless and has pretty much next to no morals, which is usual in this series but his tend to be worse. But Tyrion is the don no doubt from TV.
From books it's a tough one, maybe Little Finger, because when you find out his motives, you can't help but feel he's the ultimate player so far

There is just so many unanswered questions at the moment that I want answered by the books and not the TV show, as much as I do love the TV show I just think the detail George RR Martin gives in the books does so much for the story.

It doesn't help that GRRM looks like he's about 15 seconds away from a heart attack at all times.

On his mother side he is, but in that world you take your father's side. So for Jon to be a Stark his father has to be a Stark which I do not believe is the case. Jon is a Targaryen, but it is difficult to see Jon identifying himself as a Targaryen though.

I know Jay I have had that thought so many times what if he dies and I don't find out what happens to Bran, Danerys and her dragons and all the other stuff, like does Arya or Tyrion get to kill Cersei!!!

He reminds of fat comic book guy
