I do not think the books will ever be finished.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would be gutted if he didn't, so many unanswered questions that the show won't be able to fulfil
The thing I'm most interested in finding out is why there's faceless Man at the Citadel, from the prologue and epilogue of AFFC.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Martin likes taking his time and when you take his age into consideration, it seems unlikely the books will be finished. The faceless men are there probably because Danny or for the glass candle. What I do not understand is how come Marwyn did not see the faceless man coming like he did with Sam.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we are being honest, Martin is pompus and arrogant. Before the book was made into a series, (around 10 years ago or so)he lost legions of fans me being one of them. He was rude to people who asked him about the next book saying he would finish it when he wanted. Promising to finsh one year and then putting it down to write another hopeless book/series that no one cared about. However i expect him to finish it now that it has gained so much popularity through the show and earned him so much money.
Another series I loved was one called the 'Wheel of time' which is much better than asoiaf imo. However it was another case of an author who disregarded his audience. He extended what should have been about 6/7 books to 13 or 14. He died before the last 3 were written so another author finished them but they wernt as good.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
if youre still interested in fantasy i recommend the malazan book of the fallen series. Its complete with even more of the world written after the initial 10 book series was finished. By the same author as well. Steven Erikson.

Nice one buddy, will have to check it out one day. Must admit, I dont get as much spare time to read as I used to though, so dont know when!
Another one on my list is to read is 'Cephrael's hand' written by a very pleasant female authour who takes time to answer every single question that people post on facebook about the series. Its been likened to WOT too.
You take that back you heathen!! The walking dead will last forever!!

I tend to push things I love. Have to push a bit harder when things like Game of Thrones is trending. People tend to not give others a chance.

I have never found anyone else who has read them!
Yeah me either
Problem now is I've read them all, so wait 2 years for a new one then finish it in a couple of days

That is really irritating. Have you seen the release of the first line of Peace Talks?
I made the mistake before Skin Game came out, of watching a video of Butcher reading the first 4 chapters. I then had to wait 6 months for the rest of it
First line?
Had a look on his website the other day and there wasn't even a blurb
It's something like 'My brother just ruined a perfect good run by saying, 'Justine is pregnant.'
At least he's cured those headaches
The next one is going to be really interesting. Loads of stuff with Molly to catch up on, the development with Maggie & Butters taking up the sword... The question is - now he has 'cured' the headaches, will he go back to living on the Island of Demonreach, or find himself another home?
well there's that prison below it so someone will have to stick around and no one else can stand the place, the place is a chekhovs gun... At some point they will all be let loose
I think it's pretty much a dead cert that something goes catastrophically wrong on the island at some point.
I don't think he has to be there permanently though, he's spent a lot of time off it since he took control of it. Probably more of a 'I should visit it quite often' rather than a 'have to live on' place.

I watched one episode of the TV show and it was a massive disappointment. Not been as disappointed with any kind of adaptation as I was with the tv show.
I listened to the first audiobook and it was ok, but nothing spectacular. I'd probably listen to the others if I was on a long journey or something - but I'd rather read them.
Can't stress enough how poor the TV show was (that said, I last watched it about 3 years ago, so maybe it isn't as bad as I thought)
It's definitely a series that gets better as it goes - though the pinnacle for me was book 12. Loved it.
