This is exactly my point. Worker rights etc are probably worse in Dubai than in Qatar, and yet people have literally no problem going there.
_______________________

The word "probably" renders this entire sentence meaningless. And pointless.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I say probably because i don't have any statistics to hand, but as someone who has lived in both places, I feel workers rights are far worse in Dubai than in Doha. That better for you?

You had the opportunity to actually maybe ask me a question or two about it, but i guess you don't want me telling you that your own baseless opinions are wrong

If it was opened up as a November/December World Cup I'm sure Australia would've loved to host it around that time (their summer)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The weather in Oz in june/july would have been perfect for players and made ideal conditions for good football
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Be pretty cold in the South.

But that's the great thing with Oz, there is so much variety. If they'd won the WC I'd be there without question.

I won't be going to Qatar, perhaps if it were Dubai I may be more tempted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I personally wouldn't go anywhere near that part of the World as I would not put a penny in the pockets of any of those regimes in that area.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I haven't actually been to the Middle East, so couldn't comment. Never appealed to be honest, I think it's the lack of history and culture.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah. I also think that the centre of the cradle of civilisation, where reading, writing, agriculture etc were invented doesn't have much culture or history. Unfortunately that's in Iraq, so not a reasonable destination, but don't spout such cráp. Educate yourself please

sorry was in a rush when i wrote this.

BAsically the nation is only about 50 years old. 50 years ago they were bedouins with literally nothing, along with the rest of the gulf. Do you honestly expect a fully westernised country to develop from nothing in 50 years? Its taken us hundreds of years to get where we are today, and that includes overcoming religious persecution etc.

-------------------------------------------------------------

If they are not up to holding such a tournament culturally or infrastructure wise, then why did they bid for it in the first place.

No use giving excuses or giving them the benefit of the doubt, they should never have bid for it in the first place.

FIFA awarding it is a different matter,we all know those with the deepest pockets to bribe with win with them
----------------------------------------------------------------------

what does your point even mean? Of course they're up for hosting it 'culturally' and in terms of infrastructure.

Who ever said there were cultural targets for hosting a WC? the whole point is to promote different cultures. bizarre point
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You were the one who said 'do you expect them to be fully westernised after 50 years' .I'm saying you should not expect an arabian state country to be 'westernised' Culturally their maybe some major issues when the World cup takes place over there.

I myself would not put a penny into the pockets of any of those regimes in that part of the world by going there.

Do you honestly think any of this is about money? Serious question.

They don't give a shít about any of your pennies. Also the whole point of the WC is to expose different cultures, so a bit of a culture clash is surely good

the richest country in the world wants your few pennies?

Yes i doubt it. In fact i know it to be untrue, but if inventing reasons to hate them helps you sleep at night

Whole point of a World Cup is to hold a football tournament with the best players and best teams internationally from world football.

You have obviously fallen under the FIFA 'to promote football around the globe' whilst awarding the tournaments to places that never should host it,but bribe FIFA the most.FIFA then can play 'we are hosting the tournament there to promote football in the region'

The world cup should be held in any country where thousands or workers don't die building the stadiums whether it's Qatar or a western country

And I'm not quite sure of the relevance that a whole 6 members of their national team weren't born in Qatar, I was born in the Republic of Ireland and therefore if I represented Britain it's seen as a negative by OP? You want to see how many of the Algerian team were born in France, as well as the Swiss team.

I'm not saying they are hosting it for money, but they are certainly not hosting it for the benefit of football in their country.

They are hosting it to promote their country to the World by holding a football tournament.

Would FIFA have given them a second glance if oil money wasn't involved?

Funnily enough, FIFA's vision of World Cups would fit Australia's bid perfectly.

Asia has had a WC.
South America has had a WC
North America has had a WC
Africa has had a WC
Europe has had a WC

Australasia has not. Yes I know Australia qualify via Asia but that's only because it was their best way to improve as a footballing nation. They shouldn't be punished for it.

How anyone can doubt this is about money is beyond my comprehension.

Ask yourselves this :
If Qatar was a poor country, would they have been awarded the World Cup over Australia etc?
