Zola, great player, mediocre manager. Charlton (Bobby) great player mediocre manager.
Maradonna, great player, what sort of manager?
Wenger, top player and top manager

Wenger top player? For whom?
Was he a worldwide famous name as a player? i don't think so.
Internal, I said RARELY not ALWAYS. How's he doing now?
Frank de Boer is currently 14 points behind with Ajax ffs, forget about him dawn. He also was a top player so you're contradicting yourself.
Spurs aren't gonna attract a top name. We tried with van gaal you see what happened. We need to build and we're not gonna do that by sacking the manager every year
harry was a name in England....id hardly call him a TOP name thou.....
There's quite a few top players who became good managers, you're right though most of them probably didn't have great careers or play to a high level.
messiah, could you compare deBoer with Ruud Gullet or the other great Dutchmen? Gullet was a great player but not a good manager. Rensenbrink was a great player but what he did after I don't know. I don't know about FdB being a great player. But, he'd be a good coach for us.
14 points behind, then he needs a change.

I agree with all your points.
5 <stars> from me fella....
Posters will be too proud and / or stubborn to admit they were wrong about it - but we progressed with Harry, went backwards with AVB, progressed slightly with Sherwood, and now backwards again with Poch - yet AVB and Poch are more popular on here than Harry or Sherwood.
I dont understand that at all.

Arsey was slating Sherwood and wanted him gone though
Chronic,
Arsey was slating Sherwood and wanted him gone though

I'd say 98% of our board did too.
He seems to be doing well at Villa. He's got that young Grealish lad getting Motm performances, he's got Benteke firing, he's got average players like Cleverley looking decent, and all this with the pressure of relegation.
I appreciate hindsight is a wonderful thing but we could have had one of the best upcoming young coaches land right on a doorstep - for free.
Shame he wasn't given a go with us.
that's because the prospect of Sherwood as our full time manager was scary !
lets see how villa do next season.
anyway my point was simply to enlighten you on what Arsey's true stance was on Sherwood.. as the tone of your post suggested that you thought he agreed with you.
Poch is better than Sherwood anyway.

I don't understand fans who judge football managers on press conferences.
It's weird.
Anything else?
