Too much emotion and wumming going on in the sterling issue overall.

In the cold light of day this is more pogba than tevez playing golf IMO.

A good contract isn't necessarily the most money. LFC have not progressed and I wonder how much Gerrard leaving for example is a factor.

Maybe sterling is greedy cant but with why little I know from media including today's whole won't sign for 900k etc I feel sorry for him more than BR. Who admittedly I don't and have never liked

Right, but what has Rodgers said that is wrong in this situation?

"How do you know he has been badly advised? Sterling may well have told his agent he wants to leave Liverpool and his agent has strategised what appears to be an effective (if ugly) method of forcing the issue. "

he could have put in a transfer request. that works pretty much every time.

never seen someone create this much fury over a transfer when traditional methods work.

Other than Ronaldo, I can't think of any player who had to endure more than one season before getting their move.

The agent is just nuts IMO.

Well apparently the club have not protected him enough for negative headlines like the unsanctione bbc interview he gave which did the opposite to his image

Personally I thought doing the whole media interviews and saying some of what he said put player and club at loggerheads from the off.

Even on here now I see the whole fantastic offer and best place for developing being used to bash sterling as if only that is the truth

copy pasted from the Liverpool Echo

Liverpool FC have decided to cancel a proposed meeting with Raheem Sterling regarding his future in the wake of his agent's extraordinary attack on the club.
Sterling and his agent Aidy Ward were due to meet boss Brendan Rodgers and chief executive Ian Ayre at Melwood on Friday for further talks about a new contract.
However, the Reds' hierarchy have informed Ward that meeting will no longer take place after reading his alleged comments today.
Ward gave an interview in which he said Sterling wouldn't sign a new contract even if Liverpool offered him £900,000 per week.
And the agent also said he “didn't care” about the damage being done to the club's image.
With Ward having made it clear he has no interest in holding talks about a new contract, Liverpool have decided there is no point in the meeting taking place.
Sterling has made it clear he wants to leave Anfield this summer with Manchester City leading the chase for his services.
But Liverpool have no intention of selling the 20-year-old, who still has two years of his current deal to run.

Apparently the agents only other client (Berahino) also gave an unsanctioned interview which completely backfired and turned the supporters against him.

No, it's being used to bash the club. If Rodgers believes that to be the truth, then why shouldn't he say it?

Rodgers saying it doesn't make it true for sterling

Him saying it isn't what I am saying is the issue its you all stating it as the only argument

We went through the same with pogba and lived to regret it

Not everything is a dig at your club.

But many are using these words as evidence that BR has bullied Sterling. It's nonsense, he was asked a question in a press conference and answered it honestly. There's nothing inflammatory about it.

Gazza tbf most fans take the clubs and management side over the player. We did so with pogba only to find out it wasn't the player

Just seems to be too public for a Liverpool, who like us tend to keep things behind closed doors.

Terminator if that is what you think fair enough. As I said I have never like BR and even last summer said so and have had decent debates with some LFC fans. I also predicted an outside top 4 season. T h I said 6th at best so right and wrong.

So may be its my dislike for him but I can see the bullying aspect

Gazza

Whether Sterling was/is complicit in regard to Aidy Ward’s shameful conduct throughout the matter is another debate.

It is a stretch however to contemplate that Ward has any interest other than how much income Sterling can generate for him.

Ward still receives his commission whether Sterling sits on the bench at the Etihad, (or elsewhere) or plays a fundamental role for Liverpool. How can that be in the player’s best interests?

Most contract negotiations are undertaken in private without the need to regularly leak snippets to the press etc which has been a clear tactic employed by Ward throughout. While Liverpool are not entirely innocent themselves, they have simply been to counter claims/allegations made public by Sterling’s agent.

I think there has been mistakes on both sides, there has to be to get to the state we have now.

FSG haven't been great with PR since they came to the club and Rodgers talks too much full stop.

Sterling has obviously made balls ups as well and not painted himself in a great light either.

All avoidable and silly.

Excellent article. You've told em the truth.

Unfortunately (or should we say fortunately) Liverpool will continue embarrassing themselves throughout this summer. So we should be in for some entertainment.

This is Rodgers we're talking about. Only a matter of time before he comes out with some nonsense.
