Superman died?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

It was one of the stories in the Superman comics although he comes back to life.

They also did a pretty good animated movie of it a few years ago called Superman:Doomsday or something like that.

Don't want to give away any spoilers here but the animated movie is well worth a watch.

To be honest DC have done quite a lot of good animated movies over the years. The Dark Knight Returns which sees Batman take on Superman is epic and includes a totally deranged Joker.

The recent Suicide Squad animated movie is also really good although Dark Knight Returns is the best of the lot if you're only going to watch one.

As i mentioned earlier they have done the same with the hulk. But i can see why they have done it. There are some characters that are beyond powerful and for the avengers to really feel authentic they had to suppress some of the more stronger characters powers.

---------------------------------------------------------------

It doesn't feel right to me though and it's distorted in the MCU.

Cap gets so much respect while this almost invincible God who can fly gets relatively little . Just doesn't add up.

The Man of Steel sequel is going to be about how some people start to worship Superman as a God (and how others disagree with it) and that's exactly the same dilema that would face Thor.

Doubt it.

Thors a god from different world. Superman was born on earth. He is more human than thor, that is why they worship him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I would say the opposite. Thor would be even more worshipped precisely because he wasn't born on earth and goes back and forth to this mystical place called Asgard, which unlike Krypton still actually exists.

Superman is just a Kansas kid.

E.G In the first Avengers when Iron man and Thor went toe to toe, there is no way Iron man could be able to ever hold his own against Thor yet he did.

--------------------------------------------

Worse than that is in Iron Man 3 when the Iron Man suit falls to pieces just because it gets hit by a car. Almost felt like walking out of the cinema at that point.

If i was a human i would root for supers over thor all day.

-------------------------------------------------

Me too but people tend to worship things that are more mysterious to them than familiar.

Either way my main point is that Thor just seems so played down in the MCU in order to fit in with Cap and Stark.

Thor taking orders from Cap makes little sense to me as well. Maybe it works in the comics but on screen seeing a God be subservient to a super soldier just doesn't work for me.

Yeah Thor doesn't have much in the way of brains, that's true. But he is King/heir apparent of Asgard so to go from ruling Asgard to taking orders from a human requires quite a stretch in my mind anyway.

Powers aside thor respect cap. This is a man who chose to fight evil before he became a super soldier. A man who does the right thing and makes the virtuous calls. This is a man who is in an age where he doesnt belong yet he represents the same principles or courage and loyalty.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I like Cap as a standalone character and thought Winter Soldier was very good but don't all those things you listed also apply to Thor?

Possibly even more so when you consider Thor is the only one who is virtuous enough to be able to lift the hammer.

Anyone going to watch Terminator Genysis this weekend ?

Just checked out the reviews and wow they are mixed to say the least.

Shame as I was really getting my hopes up hight after James Cameron's recent endorsement of the movie as a worthy sequel to his own T2.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just got back from watching it with my Son. Heard that the reviews were mixed but we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The special effects and the thought-provoking plot with loads of reference points to all the previous Terminator films was cleverly done in my opinion. Worth seeing.

Good to hear that. Haven't seen it yet myself but after hearing that I'm much more inclined to go now

Sadly the movie hasn't had a good opening financially so whether we actually see this as the planned trilogy that it is remains in doubt at this stage:

The fact we saw it in IMAX 3D did make the effects and sound stand out more. Perhaps also because we went along with low expection levels after hearing the reviews and the fact it was only a 12A made me think it would be tame but we were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't.

After my call for people to stop mentioning Entourage I've recently just binge watched all of series 1 and on to series 2 already

I've seen a lot of it before but not all the way through so not sure if I'm going to rewatch the episodes I've already seen when I get to them or just skip through them.

Problem is that it's been a few years so if I skip through episodes I already saw then I might miss crucial plot that I've forgotten about.

Oh what a terrible dilemma.

Not a big enough fan of the terminator series on the whole to see it in IMAX
----------------------------------------------------------------------

IMAX can make quite good movies look brilliant though. Maybe that's exactly what this movie needs.
