I think maybe we should hold back on throwing too much praise at the cbs today, Charlton seemed pretty toothless, much tougher tests will come.

Agree Cinci. Luckily Charlton were poorer than us

Does anyone else feel that the transfer window should close BEFORE the leagues' kick off? All of this coming, going and speculation means that teams and managers don't know who they will have for the season or what formations/tactics to employ until a month in. It makes all of the pre-season games fairly limited other than for player fitness.

Out for a while, Ohso, although he will be properly assessed over the weekend and we should know more on Monday.

You should be wise to perton's exaggerations and untruths by now.

strange day

crowd unsettled and not particularly happy with the pre game news.

wolves good for the first 15 again and then although we controlled most of the rest of the match, we went very quiet for an hour before Charlton scored against the run of play

good fight back to win it late on

ikeme - 5: had very little to do all game, but still made another mistake to allow Charlton's shock opener
doherty- 6: mostly good apart from a silly error that nearly gifted Charlton a second almost straight away
EEL - 7: won everything in the air, got in a few decent tackles and played some nice passes out. improved as the game went on
hause - 7: solid contribution again. not sure how much the CBs were really tested today though
goldy - 7: best I've seen him play for a while, linking well with henry, intercepting passes and looking lively especially first half
edwards - 8: played out at RM for the first hour and still got in the box more often than afobe. deserved his goal once switched into the middle.
coady - 5: doesn't offer much going forward. not as good a player as price IMO
kmac - 4: poor again. far too many long Hollywood passes and very little quality
henry - 9: MOTM
afobe - 4: did nothing all day. messed up two good chances first half with terrible passes.
dicko - 5: did just a little more than afobe first half but his touch was generally poor and he looked out of confidence before his bad injury

ojo - 5: a couple of good crosses but makes a lot of mistakes on the wing and didn't impress. nowhere near a sako replacement
ALF - 7: worked hard, missed a decent chance when free in the box but kept going and got a well earned winner
wallace - not enough time to judge whether he'll be any good or not. no reason to think he will be taking hitman Edwards place in the side any time soon

The verdict on EEL sounds positive. Coupled with Hause's England call-up, we should have positive thoughts for the future. Batth will help with his return, but I feel an established old pro on loan of on a short deal could be useful in defence as an option.

Wouldn't argue with much of that gb, although 8s and 9s maybe a little generous for anyone on the day.

I agree that Golborne had his best game for quite a while as did Henry. Edwards did far more in the final third than our two strikers did between them.

One of the big problems with this team at the moment though To me Is that Coady and McDonald are very similar and don't compliment each other at all. Coady is turning into a disappointment after two good games at the beginning of the season. Kmac is still not really doing it. We really miss Jack Price and if we want to play two deep then to me it's a matter of which one we pick with him. From Tuesday's game there's an argument for picking Saville ahead of Coady or McDonald.

So did Henry switch to the right once ojo came on?

Sounds like dicko and afobe were worthless today, but as others have said, how much is down to good service with a midfield bereft of ideas.

Only Edwards to go now.

How did Edwards play, Perton? I saw some good reports. Seems like a valuable member of the squad. Interested to know your considered view.

Sure there must be a reason ?

You don't mess with bute. Well he doesn't anyway

Another first for Butey. The moderators delete the OP's comment. Never seen that before and must have been another derogatory remark, I guess.

He mentioned Mick, which sets off an alarm on Admins' phones.

Haha, in a bar with loads of sporting kc fans and told a few Doyle is a terrible striker and they should be embarrassed if he scores.

He just scored and I am in tears.

You told people Doyle is an embarrassing striker? How disrespectful can you be to someone who was probably our best player for a number of years in the Premier League? I'm glad most fans aren't like you.

He was a crap striker.

Great player, but crap striker.

I didn't delete anything. Must have been something Perton took exception to.

So a striker who has scored 100 league goals a lone in England and Ireland and has scored most of those goals at Championship and Premier League level is a crap striker.

But ...

Leon Clarke who has scored 92 league goals in a similar period, most of which at league one level, is a good striker.

Cinci logic.

Cinci slating one of our best players of recent years and no doubt pretending that because he has played at a decent level he has an understanding of the game. Embarrassing in every respect
