They wouldn't be able to ban it completely outside the ground. That would involve all pubs in the city not being allowed to serve alcohol, which would be a ridiculous move.

I always go to the pub before a game and have some food and a beverage (not always alcoholic, it depends on my mood). However, if I couldn't drink, it wouldn't affect me going.

I used to have a beer before the game - usually in the Combermere Arms or the Clarendon. Then it would be after the game in a local at home.

Not tempted to drink inside a ground, and can't remember ever having done so, (and I've been to numerous grounds around England (and some in Scotland), although up until recently many grounds didn't sell alcohol.

I do remember the days when beer was freely availably (although not free), in the ground back in the 70s.

I will try local delicacies, such as the Killie Pies at Kilmarnock, or the soup at Kidderminster.

I do wonder why alcohol gets the blame for a lot of trouble at sporting events. It's not the amber liquid that's the problem, it's the people who drink the stuff and the way it effects them.

It would make no difference to the attendance of a football match if alcohol were banned. Just nice to have a drink beforehand as it is before going to the theatre.

Don't judge other people by your standards cinci. You made it clear that for your friends and you the drink comes first and the football second. And you said that applies to all but a handful of football fans. Complete rubbish of course. On a game day many fans would reluctantly give up having a drink before the game, and give up having a pre game meal or natter. What they would only give up on as a last resort is going to the game

Did I imply that?

I thought I said that it was people I knew that went?

This would for the most part exclude those that take family and the older generation.

So my demographic would understandably be the 20 and 30 year olds, they all, to a man make a day of it, drinking prior and after the match, the match is just a part of the whole package.

The game is the most important thing for pretty well everyone that goes to games. Yes, many will enjoy a cold drink, Bovril, or hot dog whilst there, but that's no reason for especially making the journey. Pint, programme, match first half, pie and Bovril, match second half, off home, used to be my pattern of events. (Sometimes a Mr Tika before the game and no need for half time pie).

No it isn't what you implied Cinci it's what you said. That to all but a handful the football comes second to having a drink. And I said, you are posting complete rubbish. All people that go to games regularly would make going to the game the last thing they would give up on a match day.
And all 20 to 30 year olds drink before and after the game? Again complete rubbish. The demographic that I sit at the game with are about a dozen older than that and 7 in that age group. Most of the older ones usually have a couple of drinks before the game, and the younger ones usually don't. They are more likely to go to the gym

It's true. Most of DJs rants at you are due to 'roid rage.'

That would kind of make sense......

Less rage, more despair
