To be fair to Merson, he's a massive moron, so it's not really his fault.

I don't often agree with the coke soaked waster, but I agree with him on this

If we were in for a panic buy... Surely we'd have gone for someone who could get us out of our panicked state asap?

He might be right,he might not be.

The only certain thing is that Martial will be judged on his performances in a red shirt, not on the opinions of some tosspots on SSN and JA606.

Boris that is quite funny. Remember that show back in the day. Anyway I think he is the player we need but we overpaid for him massively.

I wouldn't necessarily say it was a panic buy but it is a massive risk!

Signing the next Thierry Henry isn't a panic buy.

Considering they could have had him for less than half the price before he signed his contract I think it is a panic buy.

Doesn't mean he will be a bad buy though, good player, interesting to see how he adapts.

Hardly panick buy when we have so few strikers.

Well u could have got him for 20Mil back in July. Why weren't u interested then?

Only time will tell. But I think LVG probably knows what he's doing.

if it was a panic buy we'd have thrown 60m at Cavani or someone of that ilk, not a 19YO kid

It's undoubtedly an exorbitant fee for a teenage wildcard but 'panic buy' is not really the right term because I don't people seriously Martial to come in and hit the ground running and score 20 goals this season. We have gambled a crazy amount on his future potential. The whole thing is bizarre considering there were quite a few established strikers who were sold this summer.

If we'd bought Roma's playmaker would that be a Pjanic buy?

I don't really understand why it has taken this long to sign him, surely Monaco would have accepted this ridiculously high offer two months ago and he could have settled in?

I haven't seen enough on the lad to comment on his ability, but he is obviously wildly overpriced based on what he has done in the game. Such is life with young players he could turn out to be a bargain if he's dynamite for the next ten years.

Then again he might be barely better than Ngog and Sanogo.

I don't think he is a panic buy in the normal sense as I believe Utd have scouted him and wanted him for a while.

The way they have signed him shows a degree of bad decision making, or panicking, though.

well the story is that he'd have preferred to stay at Monaco for a year if they'd made the CL before moving, but because they were knocked out then the deal went ahead

Wengs was sniffing around... We thought he'd get the deal done, so didn't bother.

Wengs gets his targets ... He is amazing in the transfer market
