Nothing to do with luck. A good team retains possession to see out a victory in the closing stages of a game. A good team doesn't lump it up the park in the last few minutes trying to hold on, only to see it come back to them. And a good team doesn't co cede stupid free kicks on their 18 yard line in the 4th minute of fooking I jury time !!!

Nothing to do with bad luck. We are not a cursed nation. We bring it uoob ourselves with our inability to remain composed and keep possession in the final stages of a game.
The positives are it's am improvement.
The negatives can't be ignored though. We've finished well short of a horrific Ireland side. We lack the ability to win the ball, keep the ball, defend, create and finish (the latter due to selections)

Its. It an improvement. Failure is failure no matter which way tiu slice it. The same problems exist. Poor selections, poor tactics poor defending, lack of motivation in key games, not looking at every game as a potential 3 points. Its the same old inferior, victim mentality. And we need to stop it nowm its the reason its a minimum 20 years since we qualified for a tourney. And we need an exoeriencevsuccessful manager in charge .
Advocaat gets my vote
I'm not having this talk about not having good enough okayers either.
NI have truly shiiiiiit players yet qualified
Iceland are a tiny nation yetvqualified from a group containing Holland and turkey
ROI are a horrifically poor side yet are guaranteed minimum play off
Wales have one outstanding player yet moved from 117 to 3 in FIFA ranking s in 12 months. And will qualify
Its a mental thing. It an attitude thing. We lack the ambition and the confidence to approach games as an opportunity to win. We're forever looking at "how to stop the opposition playing" and set up to contain. Our while philosophy is backward and upside down. It can't continue. It needs change. We do not need another Scottish manager with the same defeatist attitude that looks at a group before a ball is kicked and aims for 2nd or 3rd place ffs. We need a winner in charge. A winning mentality. Managers make a difference. Make no mistake.seen it many times at many teams with the same group of player s
Ireland have taken 4 points off Germany and Poland have taken 3, whilst both comfortably beat Georgia, that's the difference.
If you summarise it, winning 4 games (2 against Gibralter) from 10 is just not good enough.
It wasnt unlucky, was a decent performance but defending was very poor, how Hanley is a regualr I will never get my head around it, Martin is our best CB but surely there are better than Hanley?
Would keep Strachan at the helm tho, who else we gonna get that would do better.
He does need to bring in fresh blood tho, Hutton, Whittaker, Hanley, need to be squad players at best.
Like someone said, why was Whittaker playing when you had two perfectly good natural LBs in the squad in Robertson and Shinnie, one has to play v Gibralter
And another thing, wtf was he thinking taking Shinnie then not even on the bench.Yet he had McGregor and Gordon on it, two fecking GKs on the bench WTF!
Ireland took 4 off of Germany, who saw that coming? 4 points that nobody expected them to get.
prior to polands last minute goal im sitting thinkin 4 points off Ireland and 4 points off Poland how the f... are we not qualifying here.
anyone who doesn't see improvement has a very short memory ffs, we have looked better and we now go on to the world cup.
4 points of Germany.
unreal.
After we beat Ireland, Bill leckie was banging on about how we had a better manager than MON imo that's the difference MON was not scared to drop his big names if they were not performing..Gordy was far too loyal to players who let him down.
---------------------S.Bain---------------------
C.Paterson - Martin - McGhee - Robertson
---------------------R.Jack---------------------
J.Walker - Morrison - McArthur - Naismith
--------------------Griffiths--------------------
I wouldnt mind seeing somthing like this, bring in some young players
a better keeper might have helped btw, marshall has been honking for ages.
plus, the defence, we have crap centre halfs and crap full backs, that's the just of it.
Progress?
He's won 1 more game than Levein. Drew the same amount of games.
Not beating Georgia and not getting anything from Germany has killed us. That's not luck, it's simply not being good enough.
the way GS tries to get them to play is slight progress, results still not good enough.

4-1-4-1
That's why we haven't qualified in 20 years.
what other striker would you play?, also that is attacking imo
it will never happen tho lol
team v Gibralter
Gordon
Hutton Martin Hanley Robertson
Brown McArthur
Ritchie Naismith Maloney
Fletcher
probably
unlucky not to beat Poland last night, a last minute goal ffs and anyone who has a go at us for not taking points off Germany wants their head checked ffs.
we have looked better, everyone was saying so prior to that Georgia game.
Bad defending cost your lads that late goal.
Yes we rode our luck no doubt about it and any other day Muller buries that chance but as Keny said 4 points of the Germans is a great return.
Also Scotlands biggest fck up was losing away to Georgia.
If you have any ambitions to qualify you have to be taking maximum points from the so called minnows and then see what can be garnered in the head to heads against your rivals.
You got 4 points from us and should have had minimum 4 from Poland.
That Georgia result was the killer as it handed the inititiave back to ourselves.
people need a reality check
"aww but northern Ireland goat there" look at their group ffs.
look at englands group, look at wales group

well done both sides of my family (going back to grandparents) are irish, so i'll have someone to support at least, Scotland for me but I like to see Ireland do well.
still stings tho.
Keny cheers
You made the comment also about the other groups and I agree we both had by far the hardest group in my opinion.
Still though that Georgia result will haunt Strachan for years.
Also we are not there yet!!!!!!!
you could play either of them esc
like it or lump it, Griffiths is scoring goals. he finds wee pockets, its not luck he reads the game well.
doesn't do enough for the majority of the game but you could say that about fletcher who doesn't score.
