The law is fooked up… just cos someone signs an NDA and gets paid, yer crimes are swept under the carpet.
I hate that way of thinking…
Sure there’s an argument to say, she got paid off, but I’m of the mind, take the money, and still go to the police.
How is he gonna defend himself, ‘I paid her off, she can’t now sue me for crapping on her head, and passing her around to my mates to bang, that’s a legal document’
No, Fack you.. you wanna be stupid and pay her money, that’s on you, but you a sick fekker, and you’ve committed a crime. No NDA can protect you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I largely agree but it weakens the females position. If she was so hurt and damaged by the alleged acts, why accept the money and hide it? Why not just go straight to the police and fight for a cause that other women are not in a position to do so?,
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is that a serious question? The why take the money question?
You have two choices, (1) take the cash and sign the NDA or (2) live by your principles, trust the police to investigate honestly and prosecute diligently, get your name put in the media spotlight and the abuse that guarantees, and then take on a multi-billionaire in court. In America. The country where celebrity and money almost always win.
I’m in awe of anyone prepared to knock back the money, take the abuse and trust the legal system.
As an aside, I haven’t watched WWE since the mid 90’s but I watched those dark side of wrestling documentaries and they’re well worth a watch. I love a sports documentary anyway but you come away with the impression wrestling is pretty damn seedy. It’s surely no surprise that the guy at the top of the tree is a wrong’un.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
By taking the money and signing an NDA, you're accepting the abuse and saying that money matters more than getting justice for the demeaning acts she allegedly accused him of. There are thousands of women that are too afraid to come out and other women taking the money for silence just discredits them.
I'd respect her and her allegations more, if she rejected the money and actually went through the justice system to get actual justice.
If you're prepared to sleep with the devil and then take his money as a way to keep silent about the ordeal you went through, you're less of a victim in my eyes.

That’s certainly one (very valid) way of looking at it. Accepting the money could also very well be that the individual has no faith in the justice system or, as I fear in most cases, doesn’t have the strength and resilience to do the right thing. Or just fear they won’t be believed. This is a rich and powerful person we’re talking about.
It would be great if everyone did as you posted and pursued their abuser through the courts. But you asked why they wouldn’t are there are obvious reasons. There are plenty of understandable reasons why someone would take the easy option rather than the right one. There are shades of grey.
I just can’t agree that it makes them less of a victim though! Wtf! Just means they don’t have the strength or faith or (occasionally) are too selfish to seek a legal outcome. The abuse was the same.
It makes her less of a victim because if she was willing to take the money, the alleged crimes can't have been as bad as she suggests. Part of her must have consented and accepted that she would sleep with her boss for money.
That's not abuse. That's called a fair exchange. It's exactly what being an escort is.

Right, so if someone decides to settle out of court then they’re not a victim, they’re a hooker?!

is it any film , a specific film ?
There’s 7 films listed in the OP, by Pun on the Marvel/DC thread. He’s produced a link to a spreadsheet with all our predictions on it.
This Wednesday is the closing date, as the first film on the list is out this Thursday.
I’ll be selecting films of different genres, but mainly supposed blockbusters, 2/3 months ahead of release.
All people have to do is just predict, lock in their selections, and see what happens..
