Spoilers -
Expounding on my initial review, my biggest issues with this episode were the writing and the overall lack of anything remotely entertaining. I have no issues with witches because anyone that has watched CW,knows they exist. But the mother contradicted herself by stating they can control destiny and then say they can't. Bad writing. The twins start the episode displaying a deep bond and by the end, May wants to kill her sister. Bad writing. The jedi master saves Oche whilst forgeting May and how to use the force. Bad writing.
This episode was a flashback that explained how Oche wanted to become a Jedi and May didn't want her to. This didn't 40 minutes, it could have been done in 15. I was uninterested in the inner workings of the witches and the scenes with the twins were predictable and wooden.
The biggest lore issue is how the twins were created but I won't lament on that, since we may get further backstory.
One thing is for certain, they cannot have been conceived by the force or by magic. That would make Anakin's birth a joke and it would beg the question, why did nobody else know how to do it.
I think the dark force user is the horned lesbian witch.
They wasted 40 minutes on that planet when they could have been expanding the world by showing us how the Jedi operate at this time.
Ok.
1) Exactly what you said Guv, don’t have an issue with Witches, cos we’ve been introduced to the NightSisters.
However, I see them as having an Interpretation of the Force. And that’s fine too.
But, if their version becomes the new fact killing off 50 years of Lore..furniture be moving up in here.
2) The whole Mae/ Osha arc. Is just done badly, again, how did they find low quality actors to play the part.
I don’t understand Lucasfilm/disney.
Suddenly you can’t do twins.
But you can de-aged actors though.
Saying that, I can’t believe Jedi Tobin went from that to that in 16 years. He was a Padwan. So how old is he there, 18-21 - 16 years 37!!!
You’d think he was battle weary Jedi, seen it all. No, the fecker has been asleep the whole time! wtf?
The Ep, was just flat out boring with characters I don’t care aboot. Of all the SW shows they’ve done, this was the worst Ep going.
But there’s a couple Threads… to cling onto.
The reveal of the Dark user… maybe a Sith, but who is it? Money is on the mother witch, all she’s missing is a tache that she can twirl…
The Jedi are painted as outright Bad guys. ?!?
It’s well known of their arrogance, and incompetence, but their intentions were always good. So to make them out like They are some sort of Authority, Empire like, doesn’t sit well with me.
What happened to the Witches? Think we gonna get another flashback. Like with any Murder mysteries there are twists and turns.
What happened to the Jedi that was so horrifying?
That nobody ever spoke aboot it ever again.
And where is Yoda?!

So, Who… you went down the rabbit hole. No rabbits found, just a lot of crap..
I amazes me, that these guys think this is worthy television.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yup it was a fecking mess, the chant scene was fecking cringe (outiwth the other bad writing) and like I said the clear dyke political message
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Be careful Who, people might accuse you of hating women.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you mean me, then I wont accuse him of anything like that. Largely because I have no reason to think Who is in any way misogynistic. I do think you are though.
I don't see lesbian relationships in programmes as particularly political however. Some people are attracted to the same se><, why shouldn't that be seen in programmes, as it is in life.
Frankly the mother character was the only saving grace of that episode, thought she was great in an otherwise pretty awful 40 mins of tv.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wasn't alluding to you, so I suggest retracting your ego back into its shell.
Do you have proof of any misogynistic behaviour I have shown? If not, please refrain from throwing around false accusations.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe you weren’t referring to me and other people/posters have accused you of hating women as well. That really wouldn’t surprise me.
You know the best example on this thread and your Andrew Tate’esk view. But Simon West asked us to leave that discussion so I’m not going back to it.

What happened to the witches is the only interesting part of the episode imo. The inference is that the Jedi killed them which is fine but how that came about is the interesting part. A dark force goading the witches into attacking the jedi knowing the result and getting the force sensitive twins on their side? Possible. Bit convoluted though.
My other slight issue is the lack of originality. A dark force user who came from a coven of witches and is now operating as an assassin. Where have we heard that before….
As it stands, it’s just an episode that didn’t need to happen and has taken away what little momentum the series had.

Yoda will appear in the finale, in the vein attempt to get season 2 going.
I'll give it until episode 4 before absconding.
They could have gone in so many different directions with this series but they chose a badly written one.
Why could they not do a story about some jedi from the council going on a mission to find force sensitive children? They come across trouble during the journey and we learn about how the jedi operated at that time and the state of the galaxy. We needed to see this show from a jedi's perspective.
This show has a higher budget than Obi Wan and as of episode 4, I can't see where they have spent it.
Ok so, what good can possibly come from this?
The main issue for me is that the Jedi are being painted as the Bad guys.
And were meant to feel empathy for the Witches.
This has been all done in 3 episodes… the way it’s directed, the way the narrative is being set, is it clever.
As a YouTuber has said, a lot of people getting emotional aboot this, and that’s a dark side trait.
Are we being set up?

I don't think the Jedi are being portrayed as bad guys, instead it's showing their hubris. This a time period where the Jedi were unlikely to have been challenged by any real threat, which would naturally lead to blinded confidence.
We need to see more but they are running out of time to do so. As I alluded to earlier, the story should have been about a jedi.

Still would’ve been a crap sequel but this would’ve been nice to see what JJ had filmed originally..

Trailer trickery as usual.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see another episode of that event but from a different point of view, showing how all the players in it seem to be living their own truth/with differing levels of guilt and anger
So ok, The Jedi that got his mind taken over for a second, maybe he gets mind controlled again and goes ape…

There’s something there because it made him go silent for 16 years and then willingly drink poison! So whatever happened is enough for that reaction.
I just hope that if they do go back to the incident it’s a 5 min cutaway rather than a whole damn episode.
Once Trinity died I figured it would probably be heavy on flashbacks to keep her involved

They sold Trinity in the trailer as a major character but it turns out she isn't even a side character.
Can't add touch
Most points have been touched on here and multiple spoiler casts (a few going overboard)
But as most here have said biggest issue was this episode done absolutely nothing, and just contained a ton of poor acting and scripting.
Also as other have pointed out I won't get too bogged down on implied script, chanting witches (many religions do this), and "the thread" same as many religions they have the same concept and call it something else.
Super corny yes, and I hated but will give it a tiny pass for now
Like knowing something bad will happen I am morbidly curious on where this is going, by don't hold out too much hope

And they heavily hinted that it was aboot the Sith…

Trailer trickery as usual.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see another episode of that event but from a different point of view, showing how all the players in it seem to be living their own truth/with differing levels of guilt and anger
