This is my worry. Dull football with more controversy. But it might not be that way, of course.

fact

i find it shocking how many of our fanbase have turned a 180 on jose. Heis a defensive manager no matter how you wantt to sugar coat it. Does not give youth a chance. Zero respect for opposition managers, refs media etc.

Success by any means is his motto, I do not agree with this

It's not actually about being a "defensive" manager. It's about assessing our limitations and catering for them. In that respect Mourinho won't be different to LVG. The argument would be why do we have these limitations and the squad overhaul hasn't been as successful as hoped. LVG clearly wanted a centre back in Hummels or Ramos but the mistake he or the board made is that we thought it was only those very top level players that could improve on playing a midfielder and two injury prone CBs in defence! Big mistake.

How is a hypothetical scenario a fact?

Maybe even something as simple as having a manager on the touchline, shouting instructions, arguing with the linesmen etc would bring about a response... Fact.

utd fans saying there is no such thing as a utd way to defend managers like lvg and jose really bother me

if small club like swansea can have a way whats with our fans demanding we play a certain way

People who want Mourinho clearly don't care about the image of the club and the promotion of young players

That's working out really well for Swansea. Ask their fans if they would take playing the way they are now over retaining a top flight place. I think you'd struggle to find many

Players like Varane and Jese?

One thing I do like is the dismissal of Mourinho as a manager who will only hang around for 3 years, ignoring the fact the LVG was brought in for 3 years before retirement, and that Guardiola has only managed 4 years at Barca and 3 at Bayern before walking away each time (in one case for a holiday).

Not to mention the average tenure of a PL manager these days being less than 2 years.

My only concern is his conduct and him over egging the Them against Us attitude within the squad/fans (although Fergie did have an element of this)

In terms of results and performance, I think under Jose it will be much better. LVGs ego is special to say the least, he won't change and it will continue to hamper us.

Jose will adopt a different approach for Norwich at home vs. City away etc.

Moreover, Jose is about efficiency - i.e goals, something Wenger is adopting now, we are not at the stage to start demanding 2007/2008 type football, simply don't have the players for it, but LVG's style is a stinker which doesnt even get results. Stubborn idiot!

OP i can see where your logic is, more attack = less defense = weaker results (Norwich/Bourny)

But its far too simplistic and completely wrong. The game is all about balance, and if LVG cant get us winning games whilst scoring goals then he isnt good enough for the club, simple as. The skill in his work is being able to do both.

Mourinho for me isnt a long term manager, he isnt a manager who brings through youth and he can be disruptive, but I dont honestly think that with the team that we have he wouldnt do much better than what we are.

if they are good enough he will do, not exactly a major thing anyway, our youth over the last 10 years have been a load of crud anyway.

or youth record in the las 10 years with players who have actually established themselves in the team has been diabolical, why do people still think this is a key component in MUFC? it really isnt.

People those who want Jose don't care about the club's history, reputation and values... it's just success at any cost.

Oh shut up.

He was then hand-picked in late January 2002 by Porto to replace Octávio Machado. At this time, Porto was in fifth place in the Liga (behind Sporting, Boavista, Leiria and Benfica), had been eliminated from the Portuguese Cup and was in last place in their UEFA Champions League second group stage. Mourinho guided the team to third place that year after a strong 15-game run (W–D–L: 11–2–2) and gave the promise of "making Porto champions next year."

but yeah, no evidence of him turning a struggling side around lol.

People won't give a hoot about how we set up if we do make those 0-0's into 1-0'.

It's just a stick to beat LVG with

There is nothing in Jose's C.V to suggest he can turn around a struggling side. In fact, he has shown he can't. Would you advocate sacking him if he does not achieve top 4 and we slip further with him?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is he taking on a squad that is fit enough to demand top 4 - maybe yes or maybe not.

Like Moyes/LVG he will need a chance to assemble his own squad. We've seen what Jose can do with funds behind him, I'm sorry but selling proven goal scorers and out and out wingers and leaving us so short is a joke and he has paid for it.

He complains about chances not been taken, but we have 1 striker in our squad, Rooney and he is not in form!

We saw with Arsneal last night, strikers banging them in.

If we're talking the last 10 years, only Bayern can really shout about their youth.
