Wetherby,

31 league games undefeated and you say "the pressure will be on him to go" if we don't do much in the next three games.

Can you name any other manager in the history of the game who was under pressure to go, with such a record under his belt?

Btw. Unless you have'nt yet noticed, we are still unbeaten this season as well.

we've won 2 of our last 10 games..can anyone convince me that is good ? 31 unbeaten games means zilch, you might as well harp on about winning the league 3 years in a row, it's meaningless as to what is happening now...move on chaps.

I said earlier this week he'd play 4-5-1, and only reverted to 4-4-2 when Oldham were down to 10 men, that to me says it all, LC is more concerned about the unbeaten run than anything else, he was on about it on radio leeds yet AGAIN today..

He should leave Roberts out and go 2 up top, period !

first half our midfield five were getting overrun and swarmed out by their midfild. very annoying. with no outlet only 1 up front. if we could play 4-5-2 we might have done better

I here you mirf, but can you tell me about another set of fans dissapointed with this run? 2 wins in 10, one defeat, ( remember Old Trafford) ! Don't think we will have many defeats maybe too many draws to get auto? That would mean play offs again, fancy that? !

Mirf, I'm actually getting bored of this unbeaten run now. It doesn't mean a thing. Ok we are hard to beat (Hard-fi reference) but we might as well have won 4 and lost 2 and be on 12 pts. What benefits are we seeing from this unbeaten run. There's now 40 games left. Go and win 27, 28 and lose 12 or 13.

Nice to see Pilks and Pelts in with the supporters at the Rochdale Road End. Great PR.

hard to beat...?

with all the money spent and being that this is the 3rd division, being hard to beat should be the least you could expect??

the unbeaten run will be worthless, again, if we cant win enough of the games..

remember alan shearer being the top scorer in the premier league when he played for newcastle???
worthless, they never won anything...

Tez...
Great thread,

Literally just got in, (been away on 'two wheels' since Friday)
There was no 'reception' where we went....So I have only just seen the result & read the last ten comments.

Initially I 'assumed' Lee/Novak. A wee bit baffled as to why Lee only came on as a sub late on ??
The 1-1 score line has me disappointed too ! because as I mentioned early on last week, I think this might be the only game where by we 'get something'..points wise, this month... Hope I'm wrong on that one now .

6000 thou for a local, Yorks/Lancs derby ! A sign of the times ?
Sorry guys. But I just can't see 23 Quid as a fair deal to watch 3rd division football. Crazy.

OK, we are unbeaten, hmmm,
but 6 games in, 6 points behind the 'leaders' !!!
5h1t
At this rate we'll end up 46 points behind the 'AutoPro's'

Hang on you lot, you all need to take a big dose of reality. .
31 league games unbeaten which included 17 wins and 14 draws resulting in a points haul of 65, which averages out at 2.097 points/game.

So in your lots opinion this unbeaten run means nowt? - have you failed to realise that if we maintain this current form then we will end up with 96 points and guaranteed promotion.

So stop all this negative panic stricken talk and get behind LC and the team, because there's still 40 matches to go.

In Lee Clark I Trust.

38, that's what I said. What benefit is a non losing streak when you can pick twice as many pts by winning more and losing a few.

posted on 4/9/11

It should be 2 points for a draw

Mirf, I aren't panicking. Just pointing out that losing games isn't the end of the world. I gave you the win to loss ratio as an example of how many more pts we would pick up if Clark wasn't so bothered about records. Do you think we play any better because of
this record ? Personally, I don't. I'd far rather prefer to see 30 5-4 wins and 16 5-4 losses than 16 wins and 30 draws. That's the point

Or8 Mirf

Hell, that's a shockin' attempt at a 'wind up'
Played 6 & managed 10 points,
Don't know where 'these' 96 points are going to come from ?
40 games left at 1.66 points per game will give us (approx ) 66/67 .....plus the 10 we already have = ....................NOT ENOUGH

Those away ties at Sheff United & MK are crucial now .
Both those clubs already have a two game advantage over TOWN. If we lose both, 'they'll' have 3 games on us.

I agree with you Mirf, It's a very good record, & 4 draws & 3 wins aint bad either BUT.
as things appear to be turning out....It's not enough.
Fingers crossed for more wins,
" " " at least 2 strikers every game

This lone marksman tactic is rubbish Mirf,
Love him or Loath him, Lee Clark has to stop this 4-5-1 formation/tactic

BTW . There's nothing I'd like more than 'egg on my face' & TOWN to come away with 3 points from both those games, But as things seem to be going ..I just can't see it.

posted on 4/9/11

All the teams we've played so far won't finsh in top ten this season , so I can't see it either darn, we won't know how good or bad we are till we play a top ten team .

whatever "part" of the season it is, the start , the middle or the end, a 6 point gap is unacceptable..

lets get away from this "sh-t" that there is plenty of time and its early season etc etc, its an excuse that losers use all the time..
"there is always next week" is also a losers phrase...

problem is , clark and kay thought we were great yesterday...i thought we were average at times, a bit all over the place at times and lost too many tackles in a game that clark had "planned to be tough and combatative".. if you go 4-5-1 and intend to take part in a tough encounter, you might have to win more 50/50 stuff than we did yesterday..

we just took far to long to get into the game and try and play a bit..its a feature of most of our games..we dont have long enough in the game where we really try to win it..

oldham worked very hard and were up for it, but their centre halves are big but poor and had too much of the game "off"...
we dont spend enough of the game going at the oppositions weaknesses...we therefore end up with another draw in a game where a little more positive play or formation would possibly have brought 3 points..

I loathe paul dickov and all he stands for..a below average little striker who spent his whole career being short and angry.
It needs saying that he should be sanctioned for saying "their lad went down screaming like a baby, it was only a booking"..
their is something seriously wrong when the biggest "whinger and whiner" who ever pulled on a proffesional football team shirt can spout sh-t like that and applaud his player as he gets sent off..

dickov has some decent footballers at oldham, making them kick pull and shove wont get them enough points.. they started by playing and then reverted to dickovs gameplan and we got back into the game...his fault...

both he and clark think because they played that it makes them managers, it does not..

The lessons from last season are that apart from drawing too many matches, we dropped too many points to teams down at the bottom of the league.

It's not the results against Sheff Utd and MKDons that will win us promotion, but the results against the likes of Bury, Rochdale and Oldham. Last year we dropped 5 points against Oldham, who finished 18th ?, Beating brighton home and away, MKD home and away, is okay, but we've also got to beat the dross in the league too..

im thinking referring to other teams as "dross" might be a failing that the "team" also have..

oldham have some decent players, all teams in this league have some decent players..

the trick is to play to the oppositions weaknesses rather than their strengths..

we fail to do this almosy every week..

which is suprising seeing that clark spends most of his time working on "dossiers" on the opponents???

just find out what they are good at..simple plans just to try and negate them..

see where they are weak and work very hard to get the plans in place to exploit them at every opportunity..

working on the positive more than the negative..

given the time wasting yesterday its about time we all started the call again for a timekeeper for professional football..

we pay massiveley over the odds to watch a game which is supposed to be 90 minutes..

everytime the game stops the clock should..no requirement then for a ref to "make up" how long he thinks the injury time should be..

no point time wasting, the clocks not running, no point making "tactical" substitutions, the clocks not running..

most managers and teams would sh-t themselves if they had to actually "play" 90 minutes of actual "ball in play" football..

i think the average at the monent is around 25 minutes of ball in play football in each half..the rest is "in the stands, or the car parks" or time wasting over throw ins, free kicks, goal kicks etc..

it might take a while for it to sink into managers and players but eventually you and i and all football supporters may then start, at least, getting 90 minutes of actual play, the standard of which may be debatable but at least they will have to complete the ascribed time that they are supposed(and advertised as!!) too..

Bit like Rugby league, who are streets ahead of football in terms of giving value for money. Separate timekeeper, video replays, honest endeavour and abolutely no nonsense from the referee despite it being a far more physical and contact sport. Sin-binning for back chat to the ref or for minor offences and in the 80 minutes you get 80 minutes of action.

Football is run by morons and idiots who's only interest is making money and not bothered about entertainment.

Considering the money differences between rugby league and football, you've got to take your hat off to the administators and decision makers in rugby league for taking the game forwards. Always a cracking atmosphere and value for money too !

But then they don't have Septic Blather in charge do they ?

posted on 4/9/11

No, but they do ruin football pitches.

We should be beating teams like Oldham I can't imagine Norwich when they were down here and and southhampton last season not beating teams like Oldham and bury can you?.
