LVG Resigns himself.......

I wish LVG would resign himself, seeing as the club won't sack him. Oh well, when the top 4 proves beyond us (as it will under LVG) both him and very possibly Woodward will be out of a job. The powers that be won't be happy with an on pitch performance that hurts the club financially. Ed should probably realise that and swallow his pride

Woodward is safe as houses under the Glazers.

What is it that you think Ed is responsible for?

posted on 1/1/16

I think he's responsible for hiring and firing managers. He may not be the only man involved in the process but the final decision is with him. Who do you think makes these calls?

posted on 1/1/16

Not if things keep going badly under his watch, Arab.

If we keep failing we keep losing money. That'll inevitably cost him his job.

I've read Woodward is extremely close with the Glazers, even more than Gill was. If Van Gaal is gone then I think Woodward will be safe. He should be commercial director, not the chief executive.

Having him run everything is wrong, our board room is outdated. I say we appoint a DoF, set a philosophy and hire managers and players that adhere to it. Then have Woodward working on the sponsorship deals which seems to be his main strength.

I have no problem with him from a financial perspective. He's done a great job there. But if he is unwilling to make big calls like replace a failing mamagee

You do sense that for an accountant Woodward has gained far more power at United than he deserves.

*manager then he should return to his former role as you say Arab

He sure knows how to buy time, talking about Man Utd's response against Chelsea and his aspirations to lead the team to the title. But it's all talk.

Yep I've read the same thing. But that close relationship has been built by his good work for them. As soon as that good work starts to deteriorate so will that relationship. The Glazers are business men and didn't get where they are by being sentimental.

If Woodward isn't performing his duties adequately he'll get the chop, in my opinion.

posted on 1/1/16

Well I only want him to get the chop from his CEO role, regardless of my views on him he's responsible for brokering the big deals for our club. But in terms of the football side of things, he looks useless. I want some football men on our board, people that know what the club is about. I wish we were run like Bayern.

posted on 1/1/16

But has he done anything good at the club that isn't business related?

There's a quote from Woodward when he did a press conference with our investors 18 months ago. He said we hired Van Gaal for his attacking football. I don't know what he sees in our style that screams 'attacking'.

posted on 1/1/16

Not too sure. But the longer that continues to be the case the less likely he'll be performing such duties, wouldn't you say?

That is the board of Diectors call. Not Woodwards.

Arab

He doesn't run the football side of things.

I'd question whether Woodward even understands the rules of football. He looks pretty confused most times I see him at our games.

VC, he's responsible for hiring the managers and players. The buck usually stops with him.

Mata.. who should set the philosophy Utd should follow?

A footballing legend, the club is packed with them.

VC

Woodward is part of the board though, with probably only Avram and Joel Galzer with more power.

posted on 1/1/16

VC has never accepted that Woodward has a lot of influence on the footballing side of things at United.

No point starting a circular argument about it.

Barca we win

True to a degree but we are a football club and if results worsen then the brand suffers and the money we make will drop. There will always be multiple ways to make money for the club but the primary one will always be how the football club performs.

We are so financially strong mainly due to what the club have achieved on the pitch.
