Not sure who is left, but a few years back we had a load of ex players still attached to the club as 'ambassadors'.

Yeah I'm not saying charlton knows the best but you would think that a football club should have more than 1 ex footballer at the club. You want a better balance.
At the risk of being called 'Bayern we win' I very much admire Bayern's model. They seem to know exactly what they're doing.

i used to think they were overrated in about march 2013, did you robb?
Yeah Bayern have done excellent work the last ten years. Consider they've been paying off a new stadium as well.

It helps when they can hoover up all the talent in their league.

a bit like Juve
thats a point, Bayern don't even own the stadium, its privately owned by a different company
It does help but most of their good work in the transfer market has been down to signing players from abroad and adding it to players that came through their youth such as Muller, Bastian, Alaba and Lahm.
Why were Bayern paying off the debt then?

True to an extent but their best players are Dutch, French, Polish, Brazilian, Chilean, Spanish and Austrian amongst others
I've just looked it up, Bayern and 1860 owned 50% each and then Bayern bought 1860's half for 11 million euros the robbing cants
Yeah, just read that too Mex. I admire their business model even more now!
11 million euros for one of the best stadiums in the world
it does beg the question why Wembley cost so much money when you look at how much other stadiums have cost around europe in the last decade
Wembley cost more than the Allianz arena, Juventus Stadium, Veltins-Arena and the Estadio Da Luz combined
Apparently they paid the stadium debt off sixteen years ahead or schedule.
Though I've heard many feel their sponsorship with Allianz is massively inflated and has allowed for that to happen.
Either way they've made great strides in terms of their marketing, brand and financial model.
Their position as giants of German football obviously makes it a lot easier for them to achieve this compared to other leagues with more competition between the top clubs, but credit where it's due.
Think what Juve have done is more impressive, albeit not at the level Bayern are at on and off the pitch. But at were at a far worse starting point.
Wasn't it to do with the ridiculous construction costs? Don't think they were able to charge nearly as much in those other countries.
