Above is a quote from a Utd fan off the cafe
Do you agree with his assessment

..............

I stopped reading after 'Pep joining City'.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?

.................

Well Paul, unless something has changed today that I dont know about, he isn't joining City.

Ji, could we also suggest that Pep doesn't want to put pressure on Pellegrini by actually telling the world he will be his successor?

The City fawning, by UTD fans, seems a bit over the top, of late.

It's not like they are clear favourites for the league, in fact, I think Arsenal are slight faves... They didn't win anything last season and have been constant under achievers in Europe.... Yet we are led to believe they are being run perfectly.

It's not even the English media. The German and the Spanish broadsheets, magazines and what have you all point Pep to joining City in the summer.

Fast forward a couple of months and the scenario could be Bayern v City in the CL. If he's announced as the next City manager it opens that up to all sorts of allegations if City beat them

When all and sundry were saying Jose will be United manager were the press briefed as well?

In terms of the article it's a pretty fair comment, to be honest.

Even if, and it's a big if, we do get Pep I think a lot of the issues highlighted in the op are still there.

We can suggest it, sure... But if you want to use that reasoning, you could probably come up with one for UTD supposedly leaking what you were suggesting to the media. Eg, trying to keep LvG sweet for the remainder of the season, getting City to drop their guard a little... While secretly getting Pep onboard.

Works both ways.

Well I hope that I am wrong, believe me. I don't enjoy bigging City up. But I think all signs just point to him being their next manager really. Seems like the worst kept secret in football.

That is probably because it is the safest assumption... They are betting on the favourite horse, and selling papers based on that.

If Pep cared about putting pressure on Pellegrini he wouldn't have said his next job is in England.

United have briefed many media outlets in the last few months that they won't go for Pep because for one they think he's going to City and two they have so much belief in Van Gaal.

The fact we're not even putting up a fight and surrendering him to City is what bothers me so much. The standards at United have just fallen so much,
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Putting up a fight wouldn't worry me.

What would worry me is we have a manager with one year left on his contract and one of the best managers in the world available in the summer, likely to go to City.

Doesn't make footballing sense to stick tbh. Unless of course the master plan is to give Giggs the job, in which case I commend the club for sticking to their plans/ morals.

your players are poor though
LVG has bough horrendously badly

and Pep would need ALOT of money to rectify it.

Pep will seek the easiest job in the league and that job is at City

You need jose to be honest, he will steer you right, play some pragmatic dare i say boring football, spend a shed load of cash and leave in 3 years, but you would win a title in those 3 years

Our players aren't bad at all, Van Gaal has purchased some decent signings but his problem is getting the best out of them.

posted on 6/1/16

That's correct DTKF, I just wished Pep had just kept quiet about the whole situation.

Of course word of him not signing another contract at Munich would have got out but then nothing more needed to be said until summer.

But then again it's dog eat dog in the world of football management.

Somewhat contradictory:
"as if we have a divine right to win because "We're United"

"we're not willing to sack a massively underperforming manager"

I think United's problem is they have almost no idea what to do without Fergie. It's a shame to have a manager have such a long tenure and win so much only for you to just become another merry-go-round club [for managers].

I think he's brought good players, players who make a good squad.

What we need now is the cherry on top. 2/3 first teamers who can take us up a level. A summer similar to Cities last season would make the world of difference.

1xcb, 1xwinger, 1x striker.

Utd have a better squad than the performances on the pitch suggest
De Gea,Smalling,Shaw,Martial,Schneiderlein,Mata, etc would all get into any PL squad

We have missed Shaw a lot more than we should, even Valencia at times.

Not by much of a gap. Pep, I imagine, would be confident in taking any of the big clubs and making them title contenders... There really isn't alot in it.
