The cynicism about Hillary is something I find baffling too. Is she an opportunist who takes politically expedient positions to further her cause? No doubt. Has she had her less-than-honest moments? Hell yeah. What politician hasn't? It's been blown a bit out of proportion and her campaign and public perception has suffered massively. In reality, Hillary is someone that strikes me as having an understanding of the issues and a capable policy maker who can get things done and a strong leader who can keep America and her allies safe.

She will be Obama with a tougher foreign policy, which is what America needs now. But Republicans have whipped themselves into such a frenzied state about her, you fear she will be just as divisive for American politics as Obama has been if she wins.

One other thing is you have to put it in context of winning the party nomination.

Candidates are more extreme to win the party nomination, then swing to the middle for the real election.

So how is Trump the best candidate?

Whether or not Trump would have to power to decide things he would still have a platform to talk his constant krap that can have a major effect on how others will think of America and work with them.

Personal opinion is he'd make jobs and business priority 1, 2, 3 .....37

Which is really all that matters

Create new jobs building the wall then send the bill to Mexico, easy.

And you know this from what brilliant policies of his? His tax plan that got laughed at and no one talks about? His great administrative experience as a public servant?

I'd rather he didn't have experience as a public servant, politicians are the lowest form of scuum on earth.

That's kinda the rhetoric he pushes. Make America great by giving jobs back to the people. The problem is that he has no idea how to do this.

He wants to freeze minimum wage, put huge taxes on imports and have Wall Street bankers and hedge fund managers run the economy for him.

majing that a priority is all fine and dandy. Being clueless as to how to implement his 'policies' is where he becomes dangerous.

Dave

True, he used cheap illegal immigrants to build his trump towers.

I've had the debate recently as to why the pool of candidates is so poor in America.

Consensus is that people qualified to do the job are smart enough to not want it.

So your saying he was the best candidate for the economy is actually based on nothing.

"That's kinda the rhetoric he pushes."

maybe this is where the disagreement is

IMO the US President doesn't actually run the country, the congress does.

President is just there as a rhetoric pushing figure head, not the 'ruler'

the law passers and supreme court is where the real management is

It's not any poorer than other years. There aren't many American presidents that strike you as brilliant intellectuals. Over the past couple of decades, perhaps only someone like Bill Clinton. Hasn't stopped it being the greatest nation on the planet.

Foreign policy is totally dominated by the presidency. Not to mention a rabid, obstructionist congress still didn't stop Obama pushing several of his policies like his healthcare bill and executive orders slowing deportations of illegals.

There are checks and balances, but the presidency wields enormous power. Obama could nuke North Korea without congressional approval.

If a clown like Der Trump is elected to lead the Western World, we'd all be better looking to Putin for leadership instead. He's a thick basterd who's been bullying good people with his money for decades, and imagine given the power of the US Presidency what he could do? The US watches too much television these days, versus reading books, resulting in this "voyeur" phenomenon, where they actually believe whatever they see on the boob tube. He stands a chance of being elected.Sad state of affairs for a country in a state of delusion.

==========≠===================
Hopefully this type of bill wouldnt have been obstructed with as much vigor, as say a bill to ' ban all muslims', or ' to build a 40 foot wall around Mexico'.
