I agree with cinci on this occasion. I don't think he's saying we shouldn't sign him or that he wouldn't settle, just that it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that having a newborn baby at the same time as being in a new country is a factor that could make it a bit harder to settle.

The whole thing feels very odd to me. as far as I'm aware you're more likely to get your visa if you can show why you're an exceptional talent. That means caps, transfer fee and salary all help... But so would purchase by a Premier league club! And the fee does seem extremely high doesn't it for what he's done so far? I wonder if it's being exaggerated by the papers.

apparently the fee has to be in excess of a certain amount to qualify under the term "young talent" so that's perhaps why it's £20m - one thing is for sure we must really want him OR we have a deal in place with the scouse who must really want him

If Cinci was saying these things about a female worker when recruiting, he would be chastised over it.

I see no reason why a male footballer should be any different.

He has a track record for complaining about footballers wives and girlfriends. This is just another occasion where he is looking to judge the wife or girlfriend of a player without really knowing them or anything about their home life.

I believe he will be applying for a Tier 2 (Sportsperson) work visa.

- you’re from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland
- you meet the other eligibility requirements

How long it will take
You can apply for a visa up to 3 months before the day you’re due to start work in the UK. This date is listed on your certificate of sponsorship.

You should get a decision on your visa within 3 weeks when you apply from outside the UK.

That is the reason why the FA endorsement was important yesterday. The FA also set the eligibility rules hence why he can come to the championship but not the premier.

It also cost £575 to apply, Jez probably refused to spend that much and we have only just started the process.
