Disappointed Drinkwater isn't in the squad. Don't think he put in the best performances in the 2 games recently, but other were as bad, and plenty have performed worse for England and kept their place in the squad. On form this season he definitely deserves to be in. But, if the manager doesn't fancy you, then you will get treated shabbily...

I think Drinkwater, Milner and Henderson are similar type players and it was always going to be 2 of them rather than 3. Milner was pretty much a shoe-in, so it was up to Henderson to prove his fitness. He seems to have done that so Hodgson was obviously going to pick the Liverpool players.

Slightly surprised at the level of support for Townsend, personally I just don't think he's that good and was lucky to be anywhere near the squad in the first place.

I've heard he hasn't been that great for Newcastle either, couple of goals papering over some very average performances.

I would have taken Drinky though, both Henderson and Wilshere have been injured/ineffective this year. He's very unlucky to miss out.

I'd always take Sturridge, even off the bench if you need a goal it's a good option to have. That said, I wouldn't have been too disappointed to see him miss out. From Liverpool's perspective a proper pre-season is preferable.

Despite constant injuries/recovering for injuries, his goals per game ratio for Liverpool is up there with the very best.

You might not like him but when he's on the pitch he's as dangerous as they come. If Roy thinks he can keep fit enough for the 2 weeks then he's an automatic pick.
