Don't worry lads, we're getting Fabregas anyway...

In case you didn't know, weve had him locked up in Carrington for the past 4 years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ah, his parole finally come round then?

Of course he was rightly sacked.
The point I was sarcastically making was that your pet Jose gets the benefit of your assumptions, whereas Louis never did from day one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think you were on here from day one
I gave LVG the benefit of the doubt when he started before he blew those good intentions
If Jose messes up similarly I shall slate him too.
Kante is far more similar in style to Makalele than Matic. Keep trying.
I was on here from SAF days, but couldn't post so often because I was working. It's easier now I've retired.
If you welcomed Louis when he arrived then I missed it.

..because he's French. I get it. I also fully appreciate the habit that I've noticed on this site for writing off players if their team as a whole under-achieves (or judging a player on his last 90 minutes), which is why I fully expected you to overlook Matic, who was being compared to Makelele with regularity throughout the 2014/15 season.
Ok let's say I'm wrong and Matic is more similar to Makelele than Kante. Your initial gripe with my comment had nothing to do with what I said. The fact that you can only come up with Matic doesn't make my comment that outlandish. Thanks, try again.

I never said it was outlandish. I simply disagreed that he was the closest thing we have to Makelele. Quit trying to condescend, it doesn't suit you.
Would say Kante is closer to Essien than Makalele
No you didn't disagree with that though did you? You disagreed that he was close in quality to Makelele which I didn't say.

I would agree.
Closer to Essien? He's nothing like Essien. Essien was a proper box to box midfielder.

He isn't close in quality to Makelele. He isn't the closest thing in the game to Makelele. Either way you look at it, you're wrong.
Are you always this obtuse?
Kante is more box to box than Makalele was put it that way.

No he wasn't. Mourinho used Essien as either a holding midfielder, or alternatively as an advanced midfielder, but never gave him license to do both.
But if there's only one player you can think off that discredits my initial point then you're just nitpicking. And I still don't think Matic is closer in similarities to Makalele than Kante.
I think he is close in quality to Makalele. He would be a perfect fit for us.
I think that we would be stronger as a team if we signed Kante over Pogba and just played Herrera regularly. If he gets a run of games in a more attacking team I have no doubt that he can shine. He struggled last season, but his goal and assists return in his first season is comparable to that of Pogba's last season (per games played).

I would also put Busquets in there, and even at 32 I think De Rossi is still worth mentioning. Didn't intend to 'nitpick,' merely create a discussion.

I'd have him as the link player between the DM and the AM/no.10. That is assuming that we will player 433/4231.
That is a shame, he is a great player and for that price too. I just hope we at least tried.
Kante is faster than Makelele and box to box unlike Makelele who sat in front of the defence.
Rob Dorsett who is very close to the club and spends loads of time down there, has been on Sky and said it's absolute nonsense and no agreement has been made.
