I would say he's the best centre back you've had since Sol Campbell and definitely the best centre back in the league at the moment.
Ledley was a upgrade on Sol anyone that can't see that should reserve their opinion, because they clearly will not have watched enough of the two. Toby is 1st btw.

King was never anywhere near Campbell when both were at their best. Anybody who says otherwise still hasn't got over Campbell leaving for Arsenal.
Answer to both those questions is obviously yes, though there isn't much competition for either
There is no other CB in the league i would take over Toby at the moment.

Ledley King was easily better than Sol, only fitness was his issue and he's probably the best player we've had since I've been following Spurs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Utter gash. If he wasn't injured he would have been the greatest blah blah, the fact is he always was injured so what would of been, whilst highly subjective is irrelevant. Campbell was clearly the better player and anybody but Spurs fans who can't get over Campbell leaving for Arsenal would tell you the same.
His pass for your goal against the mousers was unreal.
Henry said King was the best he ever played against also.

That may be true and I can understand it. Different strikers will find it difficult against certain types of defenders. Certainly King was suited to playing against Henry as he had the pace to keep up with him, with a bit of a head start, hence not needing to foul him.
In contrast Henry said Carragher was one of the best he came up against but that would be in a different way as Carragher had to be smarter as he didn't have the pace and certainly fouling was part of that.
I'm not for a moment saying when King was fit, he was a very good player but Campbell was much better, fitter and had a much better career.
Toby is top quality and we are lucky to have him. A winner aswell winning at Ajax and atletico. Captain material too certainly be a much better captain than lloris.
I would suggest King was better it's not rose tinted glasses King was the best English centre back people raved for Rio Ferdinand yet never quite raved for Ledley in the same way. It's no surprise every England manager picked him despite the injuries. Who remembers him making Zidane look average in the euro 2004 game before David James did his usual antics.
People remember Ledley the centre back. I remember Ledley the midfielder, Ledley the left back, Ledley the right back played all them positions. Versatile amazing athlete.
"King was the best English centre back"
This is what I mean. Only Spurs fans come out with this nonsense. No fan of any other club in the world will agree with this. It's show to be utter biased nonsense.
Still can't believe he was £10m, and Atletico Madrid just gave him away like that. Definitely the best CB in the league.

And to think we went for Lovren instead.
The overall quality of defenders in the league is very poor.
We spent £20m plus Nani on loan for Rojo
Shambles.
Yep, Ledley King was a Rolls Royce of a footballer and a better player than Judas for sure. Only injuries prevented him from winning 100+ caps and probably playing for Real Madrid. Everybody who does there one to eleven team always puts Ledley King in it.

Alderweireld is a beast. He's one of the best centre halves in the league for sure.

Of course this is all subjective and down to what attributes you most admire in a player. Both were extremely good and even the most one-eyed Spurs fan will admit that Campbell was top notch...that's why we were so disappointed by his attitude in deciding to run down his contract and join our bitter rivals on a free...I can't think of a more offensive and insulting way to treat your former fans.
But although it's a matter of personal opinion as to who was best as a defender, King was the better 'footballer'. He was more comfortable on the ball than Campbell and a better distributor. Campbell couldn't have played in midfield at international level as King did on a number of occasions. There were a number of premiership midfielders who weren't as good as King was in midfield!
In some ways King reminded me of Bobby Moore...even when his knees had disintegrated and he couldn't train at all between games, he could read the game so well, he would always make the telling tackle or interception.
You prefer Campbell as a defender and that's a perfectly valid position to take...but to state that he's 'much better' is really over-egging the pudding. Campbell, as good as he was, was one-dimensional compared to King.
