Some people claim to have been abducted by aliens anyway, but no one believes them
I wouldn't believe them either
I think even the most stoic of atheists would be a bit disheartened to learn we were a science experiment.
WHY?
Lifelong athiest, who also realises that the chances of life on another planet is very odds on given the billions of stars in each of the billions of galaxies. Some are bound to be millions of years more advanced than us, so may well have been here before, which would explain the missing link in our evolution.
I'd pi55 myself laughing as Kung Fu tried to some how explain this away with a verse from the Koran.

Genuine request. Please can this not turn into a Muslims vs the rest article. Obviously there will be some of that but can people please try to think outside the box for a bit and try to imagine the ramifications rather than point score against other posters
it's a question about religion. Kung FU is thr most vocal religious person on here. Nothing to do with muslims vs you clown.

An advanced alien race could easily manipulate humans so i'd be pessimistic about their claim (assuming they presented no irrefutable evidence)
I think many people would see this as an invasion - and by that I don't mean warfare but by manipulation and dissent and by claiming ownership of the human race.

I'd probably take notice at making contact with alien life, but other than that I'd probably do the same.
However, the sceptic in me would lead me to question if the aliens were tlling the truth. A much more advanced race tells us they created us. It wouldn't be that far a stretch to believe there was an alterior motive for this "revelation"

That would be the best possible reason for our existence imo

We need to find the divergents to break the code, then only can we escape the maze to unveil the truth.

What we know about the visible universe, let alone the invisible, is but a thimble of water from the collective oceans on Earth.
I am a firm believer in 'life' existing elsewhere, in a galaxy, far far away.
But travelling at the speed of light, or greater, to reach us, is just incomprehensible, so for that reason, I highly doubt it will ever happen.
Besides, there's no chance Dave will broadcast it at the same time.
Average running speed of only 15 kph.
Can't fly, dig or bite our way out of trouble.
Can barely swim.
Upto 10% of the male population can't even tell the difference between red and green fruit.
Can't even stay out in the sun without the risk of developing deadly carcinomas.
All this at the expense of a massive protein-hungry brain that's only good for memorising football stats and creating daily "Wenger Out" articles

If we were contacted by aliens, I’d probably jump in my T-16 and take them out. Bound to be hostile.
I used to bull's-eye womp rats in Beggar's Canyon back home, so a few aliens wouldn’t be much of a problem.

Stephen Hawkins agrees with you. He likened the situation to when Columbus landed in
America, which didn't turn out well for the Native Americans
I'm not in total agreement.
A race that mastered space travel would likely have a solid moral framework - it may be different to ours but I think there's a high chance that murder on any planet has probably been labelled an immoral act by a race that has reached such heights.
I think it could quite easily be a sharing of ideas, medicines and technology.

Not really. The way I see it, this scenario is a million times more logical than the God theory, as it actually gives a reason for our existence rather than just being here for the amusement of some psychopath who lives in the sky
Depends who created the aliens

That's probably the conversation in Robbs house... only by the time she gets out of the shower to go see the aliens... they'll be off to Mars or somewhere else
i wouldn't change my faith but deep down i always knew we are not alone.
A question of faith
