Milan away was not a smash and grab unlike Madrid away
------------
Arsenal's display was in sharp contrast to their Premiership struggles as they dominated Real for long periods and left the Galacticos in the shade to take a giant stride towards the last eight.
Arsene Wenger's under-strength squad performed with great maturity in the first 45 minutes and should have gone in at half-time with a healthy lead.
From the BBC match report.

Yes by professionals who know the game if memory serves.
I came to the conclusion by noting goals as well as assists and all round impact and influence. Gerrard behind Torres was as good as anything Cesc produced.
Like I say good player but no one outside Arsenal holds him in such high regard. He's an after though when people talk of that Barca side.
You're entitled to your opinion, and Cesc was a world class player, but also one that has serious limitations and ones that are being borne out now having recently turned the ripe of age of 29.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And Gerrard was what in his last 3/4 seasons...? Give it a rest mate.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Scoring and assisting loads. Obviously. Weird comment as he made the prem team of the season in his penultimate season.
BBC English bias
A moment of brilliance from Henry. No mention of what Fabregas did though.

--------------------------
So was Ibrahimovic. So was Kaka in Madrid. So was Shevchenko in Chelsea. So was Torres since he left Liverpool. Gerrard could just have easily flopped in Madrid or Barca. The likes of Mcmanaman, Beckham and Owen didn't exactly smash it in La Liga after leaving England with huge reputations.
Mcmanaman won two CL's scoring in each final.
Ffs. Thus board!
"Scoring and assisting loads. Obviously. Weird comment as he made the prem team of the season in his penultimate season."
How can I completely forget how much of a joke Gerrard became in the last couple of seasons?
He regressed so much. He was sluggish and ponderous on the ball. Yet here you are still talking fondly of him. And rightly so. He's a legend.
But his last few seasons don't take away anything from his peak.
Cesc was bossing the prem aged 16. Messi and rooney the only teenager comparable in modern times.
One of the more embarrassing JA606 threads this one. Cesc and Arsenal were bottlers apparently compared to someone like Gerrard who's record against Arsenal in the time Csec was our main man read one league win in five seasons. This whilst playing with Alonso, Mascherano and a Centre Forward like Torres, unlike Cesc who had Denilson, Song, Flamini, Eboe, Adebayor, Chamakh and Bendtner. Lest we forget that at this point, Gerrard had been playing for 7-8 seasons regularly compared to Fabregas who'd come directly from the youth team.
I'm completely embarrassed for those persisting with such a pitifully biased stance of comparison when the original aim of the thread was to simply stand Fabregas out in his own right as the exceptional young talent he was during his entire time at Arsenal. Huge shame it was wasted playing with bevy of complete losers. The one year he actually had a team worth a damn (and hadn't stripped itself of assets) and he plays a pivotal role in a side that came within four points of the best two teams in Europe that year.
Nobody said he was a bottler. Literally no one.
Some of you are genuinely quite weird.

In his penultimate season he made team of the year. I don't think you know what you're talking about.

I'm sorry, not to do with that , when the tough got going Fabregas went missing.

You're right Robbing; literally no one said (in slightly different words). I didn't get the above quote from this very thread.
I can't account for your own fans and he wasn't comparing him to Gerrard in doing so as you asserted.
As said. Weird.

Iwobi is a terrible player. In big games last season he was so so out of his depth, it surprises me that Wenger sticks by him. I've never seen an attacker in Arsenal colours more inadequate with the ball when there's pressure.
