Igor,
That's one slow backlime though
We are not playing the ball up quickly enough but then we have sacrificed players who can pass it quickly up field in order to play two up front.
Keogh made loads of interceptions throughout the game. Pearce was steady, that's it. A Pearce Shackell partnership without the protection of a defensive midfielder would be murdered.
Spart
I'm leaning towards 3 Cb's
Olsson was dreadful again
I am leabing towards a defensive midfielder as I have seen us win loads of games with one and haven't seen us win one without one of late.
If Pearson doesn't like playing with a DM how the hell do we fit Thorne into it when fit.
All semantic though. We have the same/improved group pf players. Performances are worse. Help!
Good question Igor.
Had we 10 CBs today they wouldn't have prevented the second goal as the Blackburn player had loads of time and space to place his through ball behind our defence.
Read an article recently about all the free agents, ( yes I know they are for a reason) but for a struggling championship team we may have found a gem but more important a leader which is what we lack the most.
Is Pearson to stubborn not too realise this.
Was Anya offside for the first goal? Couldn't really tell but it looked close
Yes he was comfortably offside from where I was sitting which is almost directly opposite. Couldn't argue with the penalty either. The guy who took it was useless.
Darren Bent's overhead kick đđ just watch the highlights and it still looks like a dive from a different angle
It hadn't a cat in hell's chance of going in but had he controlled it instead he may have made achance for someone else.
'Fraid it's all ifs and buts
Heard somebody on the radio say that get rid of Pearson and let Powell take over đą I seriously wonder about our fans some times.
Bryson and Hughes are 433 midfielders not 442. Massive problem for us. Central midfield is weak and can not control any game at any stage. Pearson is getting It wrong with this crop of players.
So, Pearson is the common denominator for our failings? Discuss
The second bottle of Malbec maybe dulling the memory somewhat, but I thought the trio of Hughes, Butterfield & Bryson showed potential. Keogh was awful, but to be fair so we're the rest of the back 4. Vydra was AWOL Bent ............ffs.
Any a was Defford offside

Anya was Deffo offside.
Why did NOT take off Bryson
We have a spine of a team that cannot cope without a DM, problem with that is we become 1 dimensional. I enjoy watching Hughes play but he needs to add more to his game, especially in front of goal in terms of goals and assists.
I will say it again, we are missing a big black Diame type in midfield.
OK I've said it once and I'll try and type it again.....why did the manager take off Bryson
Because he thought Blackman could do a better job, i.e. the man is a lunatic.
Thank feck we didn't jammy it going up last season.
11 points would be a struggle.
I had assumed that Bryson must have been injured to be taken off. Hard to understand otherwise. Butterfield was tidy enough first half but gets less effective the longer the game goes on. He isn't a wide player in any way, shape or form.
I had thought Hughes and Bryson were improving as a pair but now I think we will never get anywhere if they are the central two in a 4-4-2. We were so flimsy it isn't true. If we are to play two in there then only one of Hughes, Bryson and Butterfield can play there and the other has to be stronger. At the moment that means Johnson and only Johnson. The alternative is a change to have three midfielders, either 4-3-3- or 3-5-2. If Bamba signs then maybe the latter might be in Pearson's thoughts. Olsson has been poor so that might mean Christie and Anya as the wing-backs, then a midfield three of say Johnson, Hughes and Bryson and two up front, Vydra and one of Wilson, Blackman, Weimann or Bent. Camara, Weimann and Russell are potential wing-backs in that formation if we were going to be very attacking.
We were the better team until the equaliser, then we were utterly hopeless, and even when we were the better team we weren't great. I don't think the players are going to bend to Pearson's way of thinking so either he has to change his thinking or change a lot of the players. On Tuesday I expect Lowe to replace Olsson, Johnson to start, maybe more changes. The goals conceded today were awful.
3-5-2
Please at least give it a go.
