I've got a file devoted to tactics and which young players to buy
"I am in 2030 on my FM2011 oxford united game"
oxford united please tell me you kept beano
I get bored quite easily and start doing stupid things, like taking over at Man Utd, selling all their players and buying as many keepers as possible. Then playing a team with Gary Neville in goal and ten 'keepers as the outfield players, with the formation set as 2-4-4, with everyone playing wide!
Also when I am managing Arsenal I take over a lower league club and sell most of the youngsters to them (plus a couple loaned) so i can have an Arsenal B team (after, of course, also taking over the rich clubs and buying all the lower league teams players for millions!)
Not an FM player but I am very similar with FIFA.
I zone out at work and think of ways to line up my team, players to buy etc. When I was 16/17 and really bored I would even write up match reports!!
And yes I still imagine what I would say during interviews.
Anybody else commentate on the game while playing FIFA? Haha.
I used to play Champion Manager on the Amiga 500 years ago and managed to take Barnet to 2015.
Started in 1996, with Julian Joachim, and Nick Barmby as my star strikers…
Anyone else an addict?
-----------------------------
only mildly. I never take my laptop to work and play when i should be working, or take the laptop to the park when walking the dog.... honest!
I used to love CM98 and 99. There used to be a lad called Taunton Zola Moukokou you could buy from Derby City youth team, he was a world beater. Then there was David Collins who would score 40 per season and Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Malmo.
I play football manager on my iPhone and the one problem I have is I'm in about 2020 and the game hasn't got enough good younger players so or lost interest now, can't wait for the next one to come out, anyone know when it is?
i've got every championship manager and FM game ever released for the PC and stared playing on the Amiga about 20 odd years ago.
To be honest I don't play them a fraction as much as I used to. As soon as i win the league with LFC I get bored, but in my heyday I would play them constantly in-between, pretending to study and smoking copious amounts of weed.
Work and family gets in the way of playing FM (and smoking the mean green)
I feel gutted when I buy a player I have neve heard of, turn him into a superstar, then see him in real life and find out he is a useless dogturd of a player.
Not sure if it is the knowledge that if I was his real life manager he could be so much better, or the realisation that it is only a game and my all conquering team is not really the greatest team ever, just a computer game

I remember Zola Moukokou ! used to sing him all the time he was a goal machine and loads of scandinavian players where great.
think it was FM 09 where Kennedy Barkeleugh(spelt way wrong) was amazing
Play it in spells.
At the moment in year 2023 with Barcelona, started with Southampton and got them into the Champions League. Won the World Cup with Holland, and been with Barca for 7 years or so, but it gets too easy really. I should probably leave to make it harder for myself, but the team I've made is too good!
I always used to try and sign Kennedy whatshisface as well but kept getting knocked back.
There was a player on there called Paul Shaw who used to always score against us and it really wound me up because that was the name of my obnoxious boss at the time.
I always tried to make up a song for Tonton Zolo Mokouko but failed miserably.
Haven't played much FM in recent years - in favour of trying to form something of a social life.
However, I had a weak moment 2 days ago, and purchased FM11 in order to hone my skills for next month's release of FM12!!!
Yea I agree it gets too easy after a while i'm Southampton in 2020. I'm the second most successful British Manager behind and Fergie and we are the 3rd richest club behind only Real and Barca.
When you get to know the players, staff and tactics that work it just seems a bit to easy.
Want to get into a game on 2011 atm but can't decide what team, preferably english.
I remember on Championship manager 2 Thomas ravelli would always score against me. To solve the problem, i just bought him and popped him into the reserves.
He got in a car accident, due to him playing FM and ended up in traction for like six weeks and on crutches for months due to his injuries. That is dedication!

months of freetime to play FM? RESULT!
