Nothing better than seeing the email about getting extra funds to sign players. This actually makes my heart beat faster

I had a serious FM issue about one year ago. Skipped 95% of my college classes just to play the thing and my grades for that semester were needless to say atrocious.

BTW how do you get rid of a player who refuses to move when you have already agreed a fee with the other team? Some players just won't leave even if you send them down to the reserves.

I'm generally quite lucky with my addiction, on the last 3 games I have seemed to get to 2020 and my laptop has died forcing me to format it and lose all the data.

I think it senses that I have started to talk to people about players that don't exist and kills the addiction dead. I never really seem to be able to get back into it once I've lost everything......untill the next one comes out.

Ever though of saving the game file somewhere else occasionally to ensure that you don't lose everything when the unthinkable happens?

once a month, email yourself your game files. that way not only if your pc dies do you have an off-site back up in the servers, you can download and play it anywhere with an internet connection and fm installed

obviously you could use a memory stick to save the files to as an alternative.

Wumpatrol- Szczesny's Mental Strength >>> De Gea's Mental Strength. (U5046)

Had that problem as well, transfer listing and seting to not needed normally does the trick, but sometimes they'l accept being loaned out if they wont agree terms with another side. But sometimes it seems its impossible to get rid of a player without waiting till the end of their contract.

I know how frustrating that is. I've wasted millions releasing unneeded players who simply wouldn't leave.

my usual one for getting rid of a player (though, of course forcing someone out does risk upsetting the squad if they're popular) is to dump them in the under 18's and not available for reserves, go to talk to them and tell them you're transfer listing them, when they get stroppy tell them you dont see a future for them at the club, then offer them out to clubs. they usually get the idea lol

of course you get the odd one who still won't go, then it's freebie time, and if you still can't get shot of them, then sod it, let them rot in the under 18's.

just make sure you don't offer people too high wages.negotiate the contracts. if you offer more signing on fee you can get them to sign on lower wages.

I made that mistake once when I was new to the game and I let the assistant negotiate new contracts and the idiot handed out 95k a week to every player in the team and I was managing Fiorentina and the success on the pitch did not translate to a bigger transfer budget and I was getting much bigger sponsorship deals and money from the Champions League. I had to quit and I had done so well to improve everything at the club.

You put "and" 6 times in that sentence. Surely a record?

haha that sucks, i remember when i played FM when iwas very young, i was arsenal and i thought i was doing brilliantly buying all the top players. then next thing i'm in administration and -10 points

but nowadays i'm a real wenger lovechild, just buy cheap young players mainly and make profits!

I do that without the profits. I have made many an enemy with how offensive I get when someone tries to sign my players.

I actually don't buy cheap. What I do is give players the lowest wages that they will accept and keep it that way until they start complaining. The first thing I do when I take control of a team is to sell all the 30+ years old on huge wages. Wage control is the key to club success and from my previous statement you will know that I learnt that the hard way.

yeah i'm very tight with my wage structure. but what i find most fun in the game is to find talented young players or bring academy players in the team. i rarely buy established players unless i really need to.

The pressure to succeed has never really allowed me to do that that is why about 1 or 2 players from the academy get into my team. I always buy the huge stars and win everything. Next time I play, I will take that approach to change and spice things a little bit.

It is definitely worth it, especially if you start with a lower league wealthy team. Spend money upgrading youth academy and bringing in good youth coaches then instruct your scouts to find U18's only.
By the time you're in the Prem, you should have a really good side with an average age under 23.
