I take back what I said earlier. Get Kohli and it will send shivers.
These two will get India home now
Ashwin very lucky that the umpire has a very loose definition of what constitutes playing a shot... poor umpiring
Needs a Broad super spell
Rashid gets Saha. 132-6....
We have bowled better and batted spin better than a very good Indian team. Lots of positives and good signs
So it ends in a draw. Very good Test match. Well played England in particular.

yeah...was good - six centuries on a batting wicket...can't fault that
Remember England played the first test well in UAE but then ended losing the next two. Need to forget these moral victories and be ready for the next test which will be a bunsen burner of a wicket

Bring it on chief...
Already looking forward to the next test.
Some in the media being harsh on cook regards to late declaration.. I don't think Cook could have done much more with his declaration. First rule is not to lose the game.
I think Cook was spot on with the declaration. I felt giving India 45-50 overs was the right thing to do and needed a 300+ run lead. I don't know how anyone can actually criticize him.

thats not how anyone would play is it ?
i reckon :
the first hour will be building the score
the next hour theyll go hard at it
depending on the score at lunch they might come out and fling the bat for half an hour
set india 320 off 60ish overs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree A49, most had predicated that yesterday and it's always easy to 'have a go' after the event but it's very harsh
Jspur - your scenario would have seen England home

Tbh i was too asleep to work out when they declared
England needed to bowl india out a lot earlier in the first innings, lunch on the 4th day or just after and then had a full day to bowl them out on the last day. Just not enough time as it was.
To me, the fact that england only lost 3 wickets, suggests they never really believed the win was possible.
I think the next pitch should offer more spin.. Maybe from day one. we'll see.. England need to bat first again. Never feel happy when they are batting second!
I do think Cook declared too late and played too slow, it's the kind of situation you really dream about, why not take some risks? Yes, they may have lost 3 or 4 more wickets, but what use is that now?
Not sure I agree with that. Especially as its the first game of a very long tour against the world's best ranked team

Sheriff, my comments mainly related to a post match discussion on TMS, whereby both tuffers and Vaughn were being wise after the event..
