Gingerffs!!

I can't believe you've taken the time to type all that!

Especially whenever you're basically talking to yourself...

Your tax bandings are out by a wee bit, and not sure about the pension relief section. Think you need a new accountant.

Speak to timmy-he seems to know a few good ones.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's not miles out. Currently

0-11k no tax
11001>43k 20%
43001>150k 40%
150k> 45%

No allowances on individuals with 122k as personal allowance reduced by £1 for every £2 over.

Child benefit needing to be completely paid back on over £50k and needing to file a tax return to state it as well. Which incurs penalties etc if you forget.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's why I said a wee bit. Listen Miller, I'm using the plamf of a name you gave me, no need to follow me round the place as another reminder-ok?!?

The minute you start going away from everybody it's exactly the same, then income gets complicated and throws up lots of anomalies like you highlight.

Some go to great lengths to avoid paying any tax. I wouldn't call myself one of those asked I don't have a problem with chipping in my proper share. Running my own small business I take out as much as I can at JUST below the 40% level and live within my means at that level. I'd rather invest the rest in my business, creating jobs, investing in new equipment, giving guys a decent wage etc. as opposed to paying double tax on any more I could take.

Sevpov 😂

I did say ish in the lower bands. I genuinely don't know other than the tax free element at around £11k and the 45% element for anything above £150k.

The pensions bit is fairly accurate though. Trust me as it's something I'm very much involved with right now on a personal front. The good news I that I found I have two ancient annuities and a guaranteed income pension from employments of many moons ago. Very nice I must say. 😀

Just want to check what you mean by pension relief capped at £10k?

Right.

I'm heading up town with Mrs Ginger and her mum.

Likely to shell out even more fwcking tax of some kind or another. 😡

😂😂👍

Take care all

You can only put into your pension pot a maximum of £10k per annum with full tax relief. 👍

It's £40k is the maximum. There is another reason why it would only be £10k, so I understand what you mean when you mentioned your existing provisions!

Another anomaly it throws up is on things like marriage allowance. Gretna lad is considered higher rate and now ineligible to get the extra allowance. Meanwhile Carlisle fella can still get extra £220 or whatever less tax over the year.

Whilst people are generally happy to pay their own way, it'll cause a bit of anger if this was your circumstances and your colleague can get overall about £500 or whatever less tax than you next year simply being not being resident in Scotland.

We'll see though. It would annoy me a bit if I'm honest.
