Yes but winning a cup is also a relatively new experience too

The day of a final, absolutely it's great. It's more that once the day has gone that it's won, I don't particularly care unless the game was good and memorable (or the run to get to it).

I think it's more that different fanbases have different outlooks though. If you're not used to winning things often and over a long period, once you have that first win, you are less bothered about how often that repeats itself as it wasn't something that was craved before anyway.

Some of your fan base, I think, would struggle to get enjoyment without a trophy as it's so entwined in what they view as success.

Top sides prefer to play Barcelona over Brentford. So top 4 is more important to tbem

Being spoilt for so many years probably lessened certain achievements
++++++

Win fatigue had blighted Manchester United for a number of years in the latter half of Fergie's reign. Especially for fans who attend regularly, it numbed the whole match day experience especially for the perceived 'lesser' games ie. bottom half PL games, group games in CL and domestic cup matches until the latter stages which turned OT into a library most of the time. The difference in attitude of United fans on away days is massive.

What the pigs ear that MUFC have made of replacing Fergie with a couple of clowns and now a loose cannon of managers over the last 5 years has shown to United fans is how difficult creating a winning mentality at a football club really is. Despite how much money you have.
