New midfielder Alfred N'Diaye was Wolves' final-day priority, not a striker
Wolves refused to gamble on signing a striker they didn't think would fit Nuno's system
They weren't looking to replace Nouha Dicko – but may now try to sign a free agent.
Quotes from Jeff.
Really jeff sorry but that seems a load of bullocks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with you, pertonwolf, N'Diaye was not the priority. If this was the case, why do Fosun even feel it necessary to explain?
They screwed-up and feel they need to explain why. It happens. I screwed-up once. I think.

I don't disagree that we needed to improve on Dicko but as I have said often, we had little midfield depth and the loss of Saiss/Neves would have meant having to change our entire game plan whereas the failure to sign a striker(we were always after a forward not a striker incidentally) would not.
Well jeff says we're ready now.
Lets hope he's right or he might be gone.
Fact is we were trying to sign another forward, had a few targets but it didn't work out for whatever reason, it only seems worse because we let Dicko go but at the end of the day he wasn't going to score many so not a big loss.

If Neves gets injured Ming will be ready to step in
The way we are going to set up relies on our defence being water tight.
I wonder if nuno is as happy as jeff allegedly is.
Jeff didn't say he was happy.
Saying they were not going to just buy any random striker doesn't mean they didn't target strikers they wanted.
I would rather go with what we have than see them buy Rhodes, Best, Hugill etc as none of those would even get on the pitch in the set up we have.
Surely if anything that he said regarding strikers is true,we wouldn't have let Dicko go until one was found that did fit the system.
Dicko may not have fit the system and may not have scored many, but he certainly would have scored more than the zero the striker we didn't get will score

Statement of the year
Not necessarily the case though really.
Dicko looked likely to be a sub and would maybe have score five or six goals in that capacity.
Can't say I think Wilson or Zyro would do any worse in that capacity.

Totally agree. The club has done well to strengthen the defence and midfield, and I now see the future as a great opportunity for Zyro and Wilson. If the supply is good, any competent forward will thrive on the service.
Isn't Ibrahimovic a free agent?

But that's not what Wulfrunnut said is it?He never mention Zyro or Wilson, just the striker that we didn't get
Getting £3.5mil for Misso was a fecking master stroke !
I guess we shall see how it pans out gem, have read plenty of doomsday scenario's this morning(not here) but I just don't it and think we will be a top six side all season and be pushing top three.
I agree entirely. I think we have one of the strongest squads in the division, arguably the best head coach and whatever is missing from the jigsaw will be replaced in the January window because we have the richest owners in the division. And whether we make top two or not, whether we get promoted or not at least we will be able to watch a Wolves side playing quality football week in, week out and at the end of the day that is what fans shell out 400 odd quid on season tickets for. And what has been lacking for years.

I think most fans want a successful side, not necessarily one that is playing quality football, GeminMallorca.
We do have a strong squad, but a strong team needs to be strong in all areas. I still think we are light in the forward area and remain to be convinced that the strength in the midfield, for example can make up for this. Time will tell!

So then you think that most fans would be happy to see us get to the playoffs playing dire, turgid, crap. Scraping points here and there and maybe getting a reputation for being a 'dirty' side?
Success by any means.
Sorry Mike I can't agree with that.
I think that most fans go to games to be entertained. To see players like Sako, Jota and Costa who get you to your feet every time they start to run with the ball. To see players like Boly and Neves who are so cool and make the game look easy.
These are the type of players that make a team to be proud of and even if they lose a game you walk away from the ground thinking 'that was a great match and the boys played really well'.
GeminMallorca,I think that if you asked 100 Cardiff City fans whether they were bothered about the kind of football their team played to take them to the top of the league, 98 wouldn't give a toss.
Did they not celebrate their win over Wolves, despite playing the kind of football that you describe as "dire, turgid, and crap"!
Of course, entertaining football is to be applauded, but winning football is more important to a lot of fans.
Arsenal still regale about grinding out wins and 1-0 to the Arsenal was an anthem for them at one time.
Hopefully, we can have both entertainment and wins, but give me the latter every time.
So jeffs priority wasnt a striker yet he tried to sign at least 2 on TDD.

The Jeff interview is clearly a spin exerciser to appease the fans who are in meltdown at the moment over this situation. I don't buy all of it, ok Nuno has a style of play which sees the front man paying with his back to goal much of the time, but leaving us with only one recognised front man is p!zz poor planning and I reckon they have fooked up badly here right at the death. Yes otherwise a great window, but I'll never be convinced that goalscorers are an unnecessary luxury as some seem to be suggesting on here.
