GeminMallorca,I think that if you asked 100 Cardiff City fans whether they were bothered about the kind of football their team played to take them to the top of the league, 98 wouldn't give a toss.
Did they not celebrate their win over Wolves, despite playing the kind of football that you describe as "dire, turgid, and crap"!
Of course, entertaining football is to be applauded, but winning football is more important to a lot of fans.
Arsenal still regale about grinding out wins and 1-0 to the Arsenal was an anthem for them at one time.
Hopefully, we can have both entertainment and wins, but give me the latter every time.

I take your point Mike and I'm sure you are right about Cardiff fans who are now conditioned to watching their team bully and cheat their way through games.
If you asked 100 Wolves fans if they would rather watch our present style of football or go back to the style played by Kenny Jackett's squad the year we missed out on top 6 on goal difference, I suspect not many would take the latter.

New midfielder Alfred N'Diaye was Wolves' final-day priority, not a striker

I should also add Mike that success in football goes hand in hand with quality football which is why we see the same 6 clubs at the top end of the prem year after year.
I would be prepared to bet that Wolves will finish above Cardiff this season and will do it by playing organised, attractive football.

To be fair, the football we played in the second half of the season under Jackett, when we had Dicko, Afobe and Sako was pretty exciting. If we had had all those three for the entire season, we wouldn't have missed out.

We should finish above Cardiff, GeminMallorca but not necessarily due to the type of football played but because we have spent gazillions on players whereas Cardiff have spent the equivalent of 3 welshcakes and a bunch of leeks.
The two clubs currently above us in the league are not exactly reknown for playing "Barcelonaesque" football but are able to grind out results. If either or both get promoted by doing this, their fans will not care a jot.
As I said, I would prefer us to win the league at a canter by playing attractive attacking football ala Mick McCarthy, however even NES recognises that being hard to break down is as important as having an attacking flair. This is why he strengthened the back four before spending on the flair players.

As for the same 6 clubs at the top of the Prem, Chelsea were criticised last season for winning "ugly" whereas Arsenal were criticised for not winning by playing in an exciting style. Which fans do you suspect are happier at the outcome!
These same 6 clubs are at the top because they are the richest clubs in the country and spend more on players than the others. I hope for the same outcome at Wolves and prefer the Chelsea model of last season to the Arsenal one.

My "spam filter" keeps rejecting my posts so I have to separate them as above or am unable to attach as a reply to an earlier comment. Any ideas how to over come this?

Good idea. I used to have a fear of morons until I started commenting on the match thread. Suddenly cured or at least conditioned.

So jeffs priority wasnt a striker yet he tried to sign at least 2 on TDD.

For the second time Jeff never said we were not after a striker(forward) just that we were not gonna sign any old player just to fill a gap.

The Chelsea winning ugly thing is complete nonsense, Chelsea played very good football.

54% possession
84% pass completion
470 short passes a game
84 goals
15 shots per game

It must have been miserable watching that.

The last time you made that comment about Chelsea playing attractive football Cinci, I think I responded by agreeing but saying Chelsea have a lot of very good players and we're no where near that standard. Well we're a bit closer now, but still some way off. We might have enough for this league once Costa is back, but Nuno is a brave man to nail his colours to the mast with no plan b.

WI'll be interesting to see how many teams come to play football at Molineux this season, suspect it won't be many.

Wolfgang has forced you into the future, where hope lies but no actual facts or stats yet exist.

Wolfgang 1-0 Cinci
