A ridiculous assertion that has been made by the vast majority on this article?
Throughout life people will come across obstacles that will test their mental strength. In the past year Martial has had to deal with quite a bit and is seemingly struggling as a consequence. That shows that he is effected mentally.
Having risen through the ranks of the French football academies does not prove that he is immune from struggling mentally.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you're wrong
Apparently in year 2 of Football ecole sportif you get sent to an island in Japan with an explosive collar around your neck. Whilst there random images of your future wife and child are played sailing off to Cherbourg from the country of your future club.
If you can handle that while doing 400 kick ups then you have graduated. If not the collar detonates and you are sent to live with Joey Barton and Garth Crooks in a house share in Dalston

Based on this season it seems Rashford is the more committed and mentally strong. Of course there may be valid reasons Martial is struggling and maybe under a different manager he would thrive but I do worry that although he's clearly got bags of talent he just isn't mentally strong enough and that will likely hinder his ability to ever become the player he could be.
What I love about Rashford is the effort, he works his socks off and never seems to moan or sulk. Add the talent and we have one hell of a player.

"Posters questioned out of hand martials mental strength to play for this club purely by what they've seen him do in the pitch"
Which is effected by things off the pitch, as has been mentioned countless times this season.
I'd say rashy had more strings to his bow, but martial, when in form, can be unplayable....
Hopefully both are a success... Though obviously prefer rashy, of the choice was needed
Martial is the better player and finisher
Rashford is overhyped mainly due to being English

Unless the mental ability to succeed at this club is based on your ability to handle a marriage break up

Before this season, Martial by a hair but I thought Rashford was our best player from Feburary all the way to the FA Cup final.
This season I have seen a bigger development in Rashfords play, and a gritty Tevez-like determination to add to it, if anything his clinical finishing from last year has declined but that's not a big problem, currently.
Whereas Martial has stalled and regressed this season so it's hard to say because he was and is electric at times with the ball at his feet, so exciting.

Being mentally strong means being able to deal with and handle mentally demanding things in any part of your life that will effect you. Your mentality isn't a football exclusive strength, it's makes you who you are as a human being.
Martial is more talented but Rashford has adapted more to the managers requirements.
A better manager would get the best out of both

So what you are saying in essence is that because martial has struggled as most people do with a marriage break up he is now mentally too weak to succeed at utd
😄
Did I say it was just the marriage, I listed a bunch of reasons. I'm saying there a multitude of factors that seem to be effecting him mentally this season and having an effect on his performance. Being a professional footballer these days is a highly stressful and being able to deal with the many issues a player may face is key to succeeding. If you can't deal with multiple factors (many of which are not directly to do with football) then you will struggle and it seems to be the case with Martial this season.
Does that mean he will struggle forever, who knows? But it is largely down to himself to get over these issues that he is facing.
Is it really that f-cking hard to understand?
Can we stop going on about his marriage break up... His new birds mint... He's long over it
He had an injury early on... Poor form... Probably doesn't react well to Joses public bashing... Being in and out of the team and being unable to find form/rhythm
Or his new blonde bombshell is draining his energy...

So what is your f-cking point then if you claim we don't know anything? That it's all Jose's fault as usual and the fact he worked his way up the French ranks means he is mentally strong?
My point is clear, a person's mental strength is effected by an endless number of factors, many of which not directly to do with one's job. As a footballer their careers suffer more stress than most and he has dealt with quite a bit over the past year.
His own manager has also questioned him mentally and wants him to prove his worth, it was reported that he was distraught after France's exit in last years Euro's as well as him supposedly struggling with his divorce and homesickness so it's not a ridiculous assertion you belllend.
