If true then what on earth makes him think he should be paid more than the likes of Kane, Eriksen and Toby? Maybe he is as thick as certain journalists have pointed out?

There's no way we haven't already told him a wage we'd pay in advance of us negotiating with Everton,

Our hugest earning is 120k so he would know we wouldn't pay him more

Definitely not!

I'm surprised you're in for him tbh, I've got Everton mates who aren't bothered about losing him. He is capable of brilliant moments but he only does it 1 in 5 games.

Barkley needs a slap, inconsistent and even at his best nowhere near good enough to be top earner at Spurs.

On top form might just about get in the first team.

That's a lot of money to save his career.

Come on guys some of these comments are a bit silly.

We all know the papers are literally making things up this summer just look through all the Dier stories.

Any player especially one that would know our club in Barkley would exactly know our wage limitations and know there was no point asking for more.

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if we have already come to an agreement on wages etc already and just waiting for the fee to come down

Not really but it happens. We would've sounded his agent out to find out if he wanted to come and asked the wages he wanted and then said what we would offer.

Although Everton could let us while negotiating with them.

£20m is MENTAL in my opinion, even in a silly market like the current one.

To think Eriksen was purchased for £11m and here we are being rinsed for £20m (potentially) on Ross Barkley who only has one year left on his contract..

£20m in this day is nothing imo

Eriksen happened 5/6 years ago basically a life time in terms of how much extra money has entered the league.

If Barkley was on a long contract Everton would be asking £50m and probably get it ( not from us obviously )
