We should be looking to begin the season the way we ended it, and this will be more difficult with a weaker squad, and adjusting to Wembley.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree. All teams should really endeavour to begin the season in a stronger position than they finished the prevoius campaign.
If all the teams around you are strengthening their first X1 and therefore strengthening their whole squad and you fail to do so then you have taken a step backwards.
Chelsea & City have bought in some new starting X1 players whereas Spurs have sold one of theirs (to City I might add). That would suggest that you are now in a much worse off position to both of those teams.
Don't forget, a lot of the positives posted by Spurs fans (another season under the belt etc.) can also be attributed to those around you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We finished last season pretty strongly, and we should carry that on to the start of this next season. That's all I'm saying. Essentially, start well. We could have got off to a better start last season so this is where we should hope to improve.
I'm not really thinking about how well fellow big teams will do at this moment.

You are much weaker, despite your signings. By virtue of having a much heavier fixture list this time round.
Your concern is touching, but we are a better side, with a better squad right now
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Having more games to play doesn't make your squad weaker FFS otherwise I could say Spurs were weaker than Liverpool last season because you had more games to play. We both know that wasn't the case yet you try to use it in a discussion.
Oh and why the patronising comment about 'my concern being touching', I'm not concerned at all. I was trying to have a conversation and get your views on the possibility of Barkley being your only signing this window.
I'd love the window to close without Spurs making any signings because then we'd see if your squad is weaker than those around you, all of which will all have strengthened.
Some of you are realistic but some are not. Your squad wasn't strong enough last year to compete in CL & PL now some of you think even after losing Walker and possibly signing Barkley that your squad will be able to compete in those same competitions against teams who have strengthened greatly.
Liverpool's squad was thin last year because they offloaded a lot of dead wood but they also gave minutes to youth. They didn't need to because they didn't have European football.
This year they need a stronger squad so are strengthening. They also have the youth players from last season, some of who performed really well.

But are you not concerned that those teams will start the next season somewhat stronger than they ended last year, whereas Spurs theoretically could start the season in a weakened state?
I don't think side can say they should carry the form they had at the end of the last season into the new one.

I suspect they will be stronger, but I'm more concerned with our transfer business and how we cope with Wembley, out of anything.

I think he is alluding to people suggesting that Spurs (or any other team / side) continuing their form from the end of last season into the start of next season.
It's highly unlikely that any team can just pick up where they left off nearly 3 months earlier.
