i avoid the match threds when England play.

is kinda toxic in every conceave-abul way usually.

i just cannot understand the club-bias, will-full ignorance that other teams exist also and the seeming obsession with exactly what stage the team will reach

cannot people just hope 4 the best n enjoy without attaching absolute objectives?

not heard one Italian mention if we will win or whut stage reach. just hope the team plays good n then see whut happen

It’s kinda funny that a country that voted for Brexit can be so tribal due to club loyalties.

One thing about Kane though - which someone pointed out, is that goal came because of the space he left. It was all Sterling & Phillips but maybe another striker doesn’t get the defence panicking like that.

Didn’t really get to watch the game though so can’t comment much - how were Foden and Mount?

Having watch some extended highlights and read up on last nights game vs Croatia - it’s probably answered a lot of my reservations against Southgate.

I really thought little of his ability to nullify opposition with good midfields & think he does unnecessary stuff too often. However yesterday seemed to be the most controlled England’s midfield has ever been - in possession, in stifling the opposition and in terms of not burning out quickly (which we used to be terrible for).

Even Tripps/Mings seemed to work out - which I didn’t understand before the match but it seemed to work and be logical.

Which is nice, I actually really like Southgate as a person despite being Southgate out for a while.

Yeah that’s fair. I do think we’d have been better off with a left back, though.

Yeh, I get that you want someone experienced beside Mings in his first tournament though

Read that Shaw damaged his wrist tendons so I'm wondering if that's why he didn't play yesterday but maybe Trippier was always going to play anyway.

He's been cleared to play against Scotland so it'll be interesting to see if he starts.
