Oblak just made a brilliant save. RVN was arguably better in the CL. Was a better goal finisher particularly in the big games. Zlatan had a lot more to his game though. Was a superior footballer. Zlatan played in some pretty class teams as well whereas the United teams Ruud played in weren’t that great.

Ruud.

So unlucky he left us with about three trophies to his name and just the one PL title.

TRS

Them, 99/00, 06/07, 07/08 and 08/09 all have a claim when it comes to how dominant they were in the league itself.

It’s a difficult one because while you can separate the league and cup competitions in terms of how good they were in particularly, it’s still difficult to ignore the impact the cups have on a league season.

Though as I mentioned on that article it was the start of the season where we dropped the majority of our points. The run in we were pretty flawless.

Zlatan has played in class teams that arguably got better when he left. (Inter, Barca, malmo)

Yeah that's true.

I'll always have a soft spot for our 06/07 side. I think we were more asthetically pleasing than we were in 07/08 and that title felt really satisfying as it'd been a few years since we'd last won the PL.

Bayern going down the foreign route again

Yeah I loved that team. Probably the most attractive football we’ve played under Fergie. Shame we didn’t win the CL that season. We were a better team than Milan. Injuries and that lack of experience they had cost us.

One of the kovac bros I assume. Never knew which one was which and where they were. Think one was at juve for a while

He used to play for Bayern. Bit left field that one.

The other one was at Juve. Robert Kovac.

Not really. He may have played for Croatia but Kovac was born in Berlin and most of his career was spent playing in Germany.

He's doing well with Eintracht Frankfurt. Has them competing for a CL place and they're in the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal.

Yeah I think we just ran out of a bit of steam at that point and you're right, Milan's experience was a big factor in that tie.

Anyone spare a minute and sign this if they haven't already?

Would be much appreciated.

And some really poor finishing from us in the San Siro. We missed RVN badly in that game.

I can just remember our players struggling to stay on their feet that night from the amount of rain there was.

Yeah was like watching Barca under Pep.

Miscellaneous:

Dunno if 93-94 exactly, but United from back in the mid 90s were the most fun United side I've ever seen, no doubt about it.

Peks, not read that article yet. I imagine it's highly critical of Madrid though. Hope it's good though, people have paid no attention to how seriously incredible a feat it is to make the CL semis 8 years running.

Best striker never to win the CL is neither RVN nor Zlatan. Nor even Batistuta.

It's Ronaldo.
