My grandad smoked all his life. Filterless and pipe tobacco mainly, but he loved the odd cigar too.

Any leftovers, like dog-ends and cigar butts woould then go into the pipe to make sure he finished them off down to the last thread of tobacco.

Went to visit my 100-year-old mum this past bank holiday weekend.

ioag, I had a concept of the Anglo-Saxon thing in America, but more from the far right using it, and American academics trying to get British academics to stop using the term to refer to a specific period in our own history.

Didn’t know the acronym, not sure if that’s me being ignorant or it’s something that isn’t that well known here.
