Yeah, might be that. Might also be that I picked it up in Spain, whereas the term was sanitised in Britain by leaving out the Anglo-Saxon bit.

It wouldn’t make any sense in a British context because Anglo-Saxon has a well established meaning here. That’s why it was laughable when Americans tried to impose their racist connotations on it.
