Some of you guys on here watch basketball don’t you? Just wanted a bit of clarification with regard to a great player carrying a team in that sport compared to football. I don’t think it’s that comparable given the amount of players, nature of the sport and size of the playing surface.

50 thinks differently. So I thought I’d ask people that understand both sports as I don’t follow basketball.

Yeah that’s my point. So not sure how you can compare someone like Le Bron in basketball to Messi and Ronaldo in football.

Need to remember I’m talking to 50. Was giving him the benefit of the doubt that he’s just a wum not actually thick.

Yeah football fans are stupid. People say Ronaldo and Zidane won their teams the tournament singlehandedly as well.

Yeh no comparison at all, hence how LBJ has carried his team to so many finals. Even prime Dwight Howard did the same thing.

Do the best teams hoard the best talent? I always thought that the nature of American sport allowed for a better spread of the talent across the board in general.

Though don’t GSW have like all the best players apart from Le Bron?

Since Celtics in 08 we saw the start of the super teams (celts, heat, gsw and cavs attempt). Yet the talent is spread about because there’s a culture of superstars wanting to be the main man, there is a wage cap and the lottery draft system (worst teams gets best picks of youngsters) which allows for this. It is pretty commendable and is good for the sport, means the best coaches teams win and not necessarily the big money teams.

Ah ok cool I did think that is how it is from what I’ve read. It’s an interesting point about the culture of superstars wanting to be the main man. In a sport with so many teams but so few players on the court it makes sense that they’ll be quite evenely spread out.

I’ve never really been that into American sport (had passing interests in basketball and baseball over the years), but try and do a bit of research into just out of interest as well as knowing people that like it.

It does seem to be a really grate system they have over there.

Germany don't look that good tbh. Thought they only won it last time cos they were the best of an underwhelming bunch. Barely remember that tournament.
