I didn't watch the first half, but I was amazed at just how atrocious Messi was after Nigeria equalised.
90% of the time he either stood completely still or ambled a couple of steps forwards and a couple of steps back. Would not be surprised if he was trying to contain or grappling with some kind of anxiety attack. At one point he looked like he was either about to collapse to the ground or bend in two and puke his guts out.
It's astounding that such a gifted player who's done so much in the game continues to allow the weight of the occasion get to him like that.
And as much as his fans are fawning over him now, Ronaldo still has similar issues on the really big occasions too.
Quite baffling really.
As an aside, Higuaín . You get the impression he could live 20 lives and still continue to bottle those chances.

Btw I'm I the only one who is quite shocked at the level of preparation of most of the teams in the world cup? I don't know if its always been the same but it seems like a bunch of strangers a lot of the time with the coaches totally unable to develop the best systems for the players. You'd think after such long qualifying campaigns and countless friendlies (that surprisingly people think are pointless) the teams would display a lot more cohesion

Yeah, both very good points. At this point it seems like managers are just throwing crap on the wall and seeing what sticks. Hope the teams gel and get a bit more balance for the KO phase of the tournament.
Tbf, if I were Barbra Streisand, I'd be in pieces if I saw my own mug in the dressing room just before taking the stage.

I hope Germany don't take it as badly as the last time they were knocked out in the Group Stage.
