Don't know if it's been mentioned, but this year is Real Madrid's 30th CL/EC semifinal.

Bayern are second on 20, followed by Barcelona on 16, and Juve, Milan and United on 12 apiece.

we piiisssss on all the others

Bayern watching this and thinking how aren't they playing City.

They'd have beaten PSG fairly comfortably with Lewandowski and Gnabry fit.

I’d argue that it also could’ve been completely different had Mbappe been fit and firing

Would have given City more trouble as well.

Gotta hope Madrid or Chelsea can stop these cuuuunts.

Will obviously be cheering for Madrid if they get there, but no way can I have Chelsea win another CL. I'll be rooting for City if it's an all-English final.

It’s a shame we’ve been reduced to this.

I think I want City to win out of all left - disgustingly.

But I want it to be well stated - the team with the most money wins and it’s shiiiiiit so let’s change it

I'd be quite happy with Madrid winning it, knowing it would piiiisss Barca fans off.

My suspicion since City and Chelsea ‘caved in to fan pressure’ was that their most pressing concern was the potential UEFA reaction in view of their both being in the CL semis.

As if some Arab sheikh and a Russian oil tycoon (neither of which, unless I’m mistaken, even live in the same city as the teams they own) were really that bothered about the football pyramid.

They weren’t. And their actions have been quietly swept under the carpet by their fans because, you know, they don’t actually care about what their owners do as long as they pump money in and make their clubs successful. And they are only successful because of those owners.

But it’s obvious their motivations have always been different to that of the other four clubs, particularly the American owned ones.

They’ve always been in it for the glory. It’s why they’ve never really been a driving force behind it, and were the first two to pull out.

I tweeted Gary Neville calling him a biiiitch boy for not criticising Chelsea and city's owners for their indirect part in the super League and he had my account restricted. Facking wally

posted on 4/5/21

He doesn’t care about them, as they aren’t the ones driving it. So I get that. It makes more sense for him to aim his ire at the three biggest clubs in England.

To defend Roman (never thought I’d say that) but he isn’t allowed to live in London tbf to him

He should care about them given its their blood money that made the premier League what it is today. I'm not saying it was their intention, or that everybody else is blameless, but it's played a massive part.

The fact he mentioned them mid rant, and refused to criticise them, stank of him bottling calling them out.

But you’re conflating the issue. He’s not, nor has he ever been, against owner investment. It’s something he’s been involved with himself.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United represent the fabric of the traditions of English football. It’s why he holds them to higher account, as it’s how he’s always seen those clubs. Chelsea and City are plastic clubs he doesn’t view in the same way.

And the former, rather than the latter, are the ones that have been driving this issue of project big picture and the super league, something that goes against the traditions in sport he cares about. And why those owners are the bigger problem in this whole debate.

It’s a perfectly valid position to take. It’s one I feel the same about, because whilst Roman and Mansour are obviously horrible, I don’t see them as the ones that would happily sell English football down the river for a closed shop, money making system that would completely destroy football. This is the crux of the matter.

People seem to care too much about so called positions of hypocrisy from people like Neville, or other’s with a voice, but they’re not really the same positions to hypocritical. Football’s always been about the haves and have nots, just because the genie is out of the bottle with corporate, capitalism in the game, doesn’t mean we have to go the whole hog and disregard all tradition. To be against that, whilst in favour of the corporate game, aren’t positions that cannot coexist, in my opinion.

It's only right now that PSG have been knocked out that we abandon the CL given the clubs left were involved in the ESL.

I agree with what Neville says. Everybody is a hypocrite, no issue with that. I just felt he bottled criticising the city and Chelsea owners when he had the chance to. They had a role to play in this, and them getting credit for backing out having accepted the situation in the first place (I get they may have felt they had no choice) frustrates me to no end, especially seeing as it seems they're cosying up to Uefa now.

I can't help but feel that they were also quickest to pull out because UEFA was wielding its axe and both were about to play the CL semifinals.

As much as their respect and regard for the PL may have grown over the years, the European Cup is and always has been the Holy Grail for all these owners.

It is and has been for Madrid too, which is why Pérez ought to be hung, drawn and quartered. He's throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Gary Neville is a complete cant nevertheless.
