I'm willing to bet that we don't get any individual player scoring more than 15 goals this season. If we do go up I'll also bet, it'll be with the least amount of goals conceded.

"Funny ol' game, Saint", as Greavsie used to say.

Yeovil humiliated by Luton, who put 8 past them on Saturday. Today they bravely lose by just one goal. Meanwhile Luton lose 2-0 at home to Ipswich, with McGoldrick scoring both.

Take nothing for granted. Treat every game with respect.

Edwards unhappy when coming off, a tad 'petulant' a few claim.

I guess he kicked/knocked away a water bottle, no doubt frustrated as he realises he doesn't fit anymore.

66% posession with 16 shots to their two, having played our reserves. Happy with the win and clean sheet...the sort of game we would have lost in recent years.

As WITTS said, i expect lots of 1-0 wins under nuno especially early on, if he has got the defence right. I think he wants to build that solid platform to dominate games rather than the sort of MM style of two big forwards scoring 20+ each and win 4-3. both styles can be effective and good to watch and so long as we continue to develop through the season (not slip backwards as solbakken and othrs have done) this could be a very good year.

I went last night here's me 2 penny's worth....

Norris- looks like a great find, did everything right and nothing wrong!

Boly- Nothing gets past this lad!

Graham- still carrying a knock? Not at his best.

Vinagre- Looks good.

Bennet- Better back up than Danny (I'm gonna smash this ball up there) Batth.

Ronan- Never stopped trying.

Price/Edwards/Dicko/Batth.............for me the worst 4 on the pitch! Price gave the ball away a lot! Batth Hoofy Mchoof we don't want to see this anymore! Edwards, did he play? and Dicko just lost it me thinks!

Subs-

Bright- What a prospect this lad looks allllllllllllways wanted the ball then did something with it when had it.

Jota- First touch took on 4 players, say no more.

Siass- Late sub

Cheers Pal. Always good to get a view from someone who went.

Price, Edwards, Batth and Dicko the last of the old guard should be moved on as the kids are a better option now! Need 2 forwards in........and maybe a CM

Good read. I like the sound of Jota and Bright, and the new keeper.

Last night proved the likes of edwards and batth have no future at the club and highlighted we need another cm to come in let alone a striker. Our midfield was poor.

Eno is gaining confidence with every game, we need to be patient with him. We all know Ronan is a class act but looks a little lightweight to me.

Norris looked good against Shrewsbury too. Reckon he could be the long term option in goal.

Exactly!!!

Won't be reading too much into either display yet a while but, if I must, I'll settle for 30 odd more 1-0 wins this season.

Yep agree wulfrun

Cheers for the view from the match wolves55, no surprise to me that our centre looked weakest element. But i do think the old guard nuno has kept will do fine as back up for now...just not altogether in one go. We know indvidually in the right side that price, edwards, dicko and batth have all performed well at times, and tbf dicko scored the only goal v yeovil even if he was not that good on the night.

players like ronan, eno and JG could be the future but are all young and learning and will benefit from people they k ow in the squad.

Have to say to me the weakness in the team last night came from the wing backs. Graham and Vinagre got lots of the ball in good positions and hardly managed a decent ball into the box all night. Wing backs are so important in the system we are playing because they are usually the ones with the most space to work in, and they have to be more productive than this pair were last night

Question leading into the weekend will be seeing who the front three are going to be with Cav now available.

Wouldn't mind seeing Jota, Eno, Cav but suspect Bonatini instead of Eno.

Agree with that DJ. Grahams crosses and corners were poor and very rarely got above a couple off feet off the ground. The one quality corner he put in though did lead to Dickos goal.

The other disappointing performance was from Batth - boy did he suddenly look well out of his depth. Every time he got the ball he just passed it to Boly or Bennett, pretty much conceding that he had no idea what to do with it himself.

I thought Bennett and Norris, albeit against lower league team, looked comfortable. I did say to my mate that I do think Norris will become our number one keeper soon.

Agree with you about Norris Vinny. Ruddy made a couple of howlers in the friendly games against Shrewsbury and Leicester, although I did think he did well against Boro. But I think Norris could well go on to prove to be better

Norris taking over from Ruddy would fit our "young, talented and hungry policy". Hope that works out.
Have Wolves pretty much given up on Ike ever making it back to the number 1 spot? If so, harsh, but that's life in general and sport in particular.

posted on 9/8/17

I don't think anyone is giving up on Ikeme, but even if things go well he is clearly going to face a long time getting back to the fitness levels required for the modern football game. Lets hope one day that what he is able to do

posted on 9/8/17

I feel Bonatini will start too cinci, as it's the only way he's going to get his match fitness up to the standard Nuno wants. He may well only last 50 or 60 minutes at this stage, but the more he plays, the more he'll get up to scratch. He knows where the back of the net is too.

posted on 9/8/17

As for Ikeme. I think we have to look at this realistically and put sentiment aside. He has a terrible disease and whilst it would be great to see him wearing the #1 shirt again, I do feel it'll be too much to expect him to even train again, let alone play.

Batth should never be anywhere near the starting eleven. Need to get rid of him sharpish, like we did the equally useless Iorfa.

From the comments the game last night a typical early season cup game........not much to discuss just another 90 mins for some players ?

posted on 9/8/17

I don't think last night's game was anywhere near as bad as Spiers was making out, and from his ratings I think he has been watching different games to me. He has given Boly 6 in both this week's games when he has been outstanding in both to me and to everyone I know. And very few of his other ratings would be in line with mine. All about opinions I guess, either that or he doesn't use specsavers
