To achieve that with players like Henderson, Mane (who we overpaid for massively remember) Coutinho (who only shows up once every 10 games), Lallana (who isn't worth the 25 million we paid) an awful keeper, a free signing CB who struggled in Germany, no left back, Wijnaldum who got relegated with Newcastle blah blah blah. How we managed to finish above United and Arsenal with all those players...Klopp should have won manager of the season.

Many of our fans over the past few years have complained that we always settled for average 'mid table' players in the transfer market. So this time we went for the best, but their clubs didn't want to sell and now fans are complaining we didn't have a backup plan 'B' for transfers.
So, we couldn't get the top players and therefore we should have gone to average as a plan 'B'. No doubt many fans would have been moaning that we can't get the best so once again settled for average. Klopp really can't win sometimes.
OK, our defenders aren't the best in the world, but then again I personally don't think they are all as bad as people make out. We have some good defenders, not world beaters, but not terrible either.
It seems to me that the problem is they are not working together as a well drilled 'unit' and seem to be working more as individuals with nobody taking command and organising.
We hear so often of our inability to break teams down who come to defend; I would ask if that is because we don't have the quality of players to break teams down. Is it because some of the teams that come to defend have better quality defenders than us? I doubt it; they come to Anfield with a well organised defence that makes it hard to break down. Something in defence that we certainly seem to lack.
Yes, a world class central defender such as VVD would be immense to have, but that would not solve the problem of them working as a well drilled unit.
On a secondary note; how many people are blaming the defence for points lost in the games we have played, and not putting some of the blame on our attackers and midfield for the amount of guilt edged chances we missed. Chances that the likes of Suarez and Torres in his prime would have buried with one eye shut.
Burnley also got a 1-1 draw at Spurs, and Spurs probably have the best defence in the league. They are on a good run: they’re hard to break down, and they nick goals on the break.
Last season, we struggled to get in behind teams that parked the bus. This season, we’re getting in behind them, but at the moment we’re not finishing our chances. But if you’re making chances, the goals will come.
I don’t think it’s time to panic, just yet. There are signs that Klopp has worked on breaking down the park-the-bus teams, and I think it will come.
Defence is flaky, but again, I think it will settle down.
I personally agree with Carragher that it’s more to do with defensive organisation than with personnel (though personally I think Klavan looks a bit off the pace), and I don’t think the midfield is currently giving them enough protection. The ‘Goals Against’ column looks bad, but half of them were conceded with 10 men on the pitch, and otherwise would look ok.
We’ve introduced new personnel, too, with the intention, I suspect, of rotating a lot....so that will take time to settle down. These are early-season problems that can be worked on, and I think they will be. It’s not a flying-start, but it’s not a disastrous one, either.
Too early to judge, just yet.

Exactly Ttliv87. You are one of the fans who thinks about things in a reasonable way.
The point I was trying to make is that many, not all, but many of our fans would still have complained if we had brought someone else in, regardless of who it was. They would still have moaned that we didn't get VVD and so we 'settled for average'. It seems that Klopp can't do right no matter what.
I find the narratives created by these match-reports a bit random, tbh.
When Spurs draw 1-1 at home to Burnley, it's because Harry Kane has an August hoodoo, or because Spurs have a Wembley hoodoo. When we draw 1-1 at home to Burnley, it's because of our cr@p defence.
It's like these narratives are ready-to-go, before the game starts. I do think we could have defended the goal better, but there is no suggestion that Spurs could have defended Burnley's goal better, because that's not the preferred narrative for Spurs, so it must be because Spurs couldn't score more than one, not because they conceded one.

You are forgetting the two corners we conceded which lead to two free headers where one needed a goal line clearance from Matip and other was saved by Mig.
Spurs conceded 26 goals last season, you 42
===================================================
Yes, I know, I'm not arguing that Spurs don't defend better, but I'm talking about post-match narratives. I sometimes think the narrative is a bit of a stretch when it's applied to every single game, as tends to happen.
If a team is leading 1-0, and then concedes in the last minute, it completely changes the post-match analysis, even though it was the same game for 89 minutes, and even if the equalising goal was a bit of a fluke.
